My friend Jane Washburn makes some of the most fantastic creatures in this world or any other. She's just finished work on her latest creation, the Child Empress of Mars (who is based on a Dora Goss story and will be donated to the Interstitial Arts Foundation's upcoming auction). Look at this alien beauty:

How big is that? I'm trying to wrap my head around it and I can't tell if it's a foot tall or three inches or what. (Any of which would still be mind-blowing.)

I'm guessing she's about a foot tall, maybe a little more? Jane does some really small creatures and some gigantic sculptures, so it could be any size.

The Empress is about a foot tall, and a little bit longer from nose to tail.

The little red Skellione in the last pic is just a couple inches.

I dropped her a note to make sure she sees these pictures, though I'm sure she'll get to see the real thing soon enough.

I LOVE it, but I first saw it on Livejournal and I'm not good at reading Livejournalese, so I couldn't figure out who had made it. Now that I know her name, I'll have to figure out how to contact her to let her know how gorgeous I think it is.

Your dollies (ahem -- ACTION FIGURES) really do deserve some artistic portraits. I'd love to see them sitting on the branches of trees, on the banks of rivers, etc, all properly lit & whatnot. But as long as we can see what the little guys actually look like, that's all we really need to appreciate them.
