“ I know I'm a bad poet, but I'm a good man. All I ask is that... is that you try to see me”
I do see you - that's the problem! You're nothing to me, William. You're beneath me”I couldn’t believe it, it felt as if my heart was ripped out and stepped on over and over again. All the walls in my world came crashing down with those few words she said

I took a floating stride toward the man in the alley. Beautiful he was, all curls and soft angles. But what drew me were the sobs. This wasn't a man who cried out for life, it was one who cried in spite of it.
And the Angel's sang a merry tune as they all passed him by. But not me. I saw the poem behind the sad music.
"Have you lost your puppy? I had a puppy once, but daddy said I musn't, said we couldn't keep him..so you know what we did?" I smiled as I got closer, reaching a hand toward the man.

"Are you all right precious?"
“Yea..I’m umm fine” I said taking a few steps back trying to stop the tears. “Nothing wrong here” And then she came closer even started to reach towards me;
"Have you lost your puppy? I had a puppy once, but daddy said I musn't, said we couldn't keep him..so you know what we did?"
“No…no puppy.” I said glancing around, I wasn’t getting a good feeling from her “I have to get home to mother” I continued to inch my way back but the woman kept on coming closer, next thing I knew I felt the cold brick against my back.
“W-what do you want? I don’t have much but just take it” I pulled out a watch and started to hand it towards her.

"They don't respect you. They laugh at you." I smiled, "But I would never laugh at you pretty. You are not just glowing," leaning in toward his soft ear that held the tears in, I whispered, "you are effulgant."
I pulled back, looking him in the eyes.
"Never fear, I see it. And it is not funny, it is strong, and full of meaning, no frivolity here." I smiled at him, wanting to see him smile back, pressed almost to him, the cold wall at his back.

She went on about how they laugh at me..which was true but how did she know. Maybe she was there, that had to be it. “Glowing?” I question just about everything she said until she said it….
EFFULGENT
That caught my attention, that changed my nervous look to a more content look, a look of satisfaction. “Yes..effulgent.”
I smiled back at her as she smiled at me. She understood me, she seemed to believe in me, only other person that ever did that was mother. Oh I wonder if mother would like her.
