My darlings - what lovelies I have for you today!

First, these designs of the 493 Pokemon with trainers in outfits matching their pokemon are just about the most delightful art I've seen in months! I was totally *squee*ing at so many of them! This style of illustration appeals to me at a gut level, I don't know why - not just The Cute but the ( Read more... )

Uh... Art Institutes... Yeah, I wasted a year between the one here and one in Phoenix, AZ. It's a good school, I suppose, but I have mixed opinions. Which department would you specifically be in? I was in Video Production, so only thing close to what you'd probably do were "Fundamentals of Design" (Where we had a fill in teacher who gave 2 students a B and failed half the class... There were a lot of overruled and corrected grades in that class) and Color Theory. I did have an awesome instructor for my Perspective class in AZ and very much enjoyed that class. So yeah, mixed thoughts. Parking is a bastard though unless you're there an hour before your class starts! Suppose you'd have it easy with reserved parking. I think you'd fit in well.

Ok, hang on... by "interview" do you mean to be staff or interview with the admissions department to enroll? You're right, it is perversely expensive... Gotta factor in a lot more money for supplies, too, don't forget.

I'd be a student, graphic design.

Fit? No doubt. But the money... yipes! Is it REALLY worth all that much more?!

Me. So very not impressed with the Art Institute. I actually attended said institute for a year in graphic design, the program you are looking at, I believe. Here's what I came away with:

- Outrageously expensive: I'm STILL paying off that year to this very day.

- They make you take bullshit classes: When I went, I already had a degree from CU Boulder, and yet I still had to take gen ed classes.

- Everyone I know who attended and graduated from AIC is NOT working in his or her field. I don't think they help you find anything outside of school at all.

- I did take some interesting classes (read, two out of ten) that I enjoyed. The rest were a waste of time.

WOW NO KIDDING?!?

So you'd recommend going CU at Denve, then, over AI?

I don't know anything about CU Denver, unfortunately. Have you met with them?

Yeah, I've heard horror stories about the Art Institute. Poor teaching technique, expensive, bad placement, etc etc.

RMCAD is a pretty good school, from my own experience, but your mileage may vary. Generally, an art degree is an art degree, unless you go to some HOMG PRODIGIOUS art school, which there aren't too many of. It's just a filler degree. You're best off finding a place that you can afford that caters to your specific needs. Anything else is a waste of money.

That's about what I've decided - only AI says that the placement is 100% into your field. NICE.

The Bartending College claimed the same for me. D: D: D:

Though really, it's your choice. Hope that, regardless of what you go/do, it'll be watcha want. ♥
