If you're frightened of dying and then you hold on, you'll see devil's tearing your life away

Could hear Riley and B arguing in the other room. Their voices rising, so I could hear them clearly on the other side of the door that wasn't even closed all the way. Then their voices got all quiet again and I thought I could hear lips smacking together. Kissing. They were in love, B was in love, she was always in love. It was wicked pretty to ( Read more... )

I turned and looked at the girl standing next to me. "You're right, I don't." I sighed and crossed my arms over my chest, trying to shield myself from the wind. "I don't know what I'm doing here. I'm not even sure where 'here' is."

I looked at the girl a little closer, I've seen her before, but I can't place it. I look her over, not intently enough to make her uncomfortable, she looks tired and worn. She's got circles under her eyes dark enough to be worn by a woman twice her age.

I turn and look back out over the sand, trying to ignore the gloominess under our feet. I don't know what it was about this place but it made me calmer then I normally was, my body even moved slower. Like I was under water or a tub of jello.

I brushed my hair away from my face. "I don't think you belong here either. This isn't a place for anyone to dwell."

Dwell? When the fuck did I get so big new-agey with the words? This place is weird.

"See that's where you're all fucking wrong." I said my voice even toned, but suddenly I was kinda pissed off. Dark eyes stared off at the setting sun, so pretty and bloody. I wondered what the darkness would bring. I turned to face the blonde girl, she looked oddly familiar. What the hell was she doing here?

"Everyone tries to tell me I don't belong here, but I can't escape." I shook my head at her, cause she wouldn't understand. Where was Buffy? She would understand for sure. She always would. At least she got to stay here, I think I'd have to leave soon. I wasn't exactly sure how this worked. It's not like they make a handbook for this, and if they did where the hell did my copy go?

"I have things I need to see about." I said to the girl before starting to walk barefoot across the desert sand as the sun sunk lower in the sky.

I watched as she turned and looked at me, my eyes meeting her dark ones. "You don't seem to fit here. S'all I'm saying." I shrugged slightly.

I watched for a moment as she started to walk in the sand. Before I knew it I was following her, it was like I almost had to follow her. I quicken my pace to catch up to her, my bare feet digging into the black sand. Black sand? Strange.

"Well have some company while you see about the things you need to see." I start to walk in stride with her. There was more going on here, something that I couldn't place. I was calmer then I would be, I don't know why, this place was odd, different.

"Just as long as you don't break my T.V." I nodded at her, as the sun set and blackness fell over the sand. My feet dragged in it, and I could feel the grains rubbing up and in between my toes. Now where had that come from? I wasn't sure, but for some reason it seemed pretty appropriate.

With a sigh I allowed her to tag along next to me as the scene shifted and swirled around us. I couldn't find the flash at all. Where had it gone? I spun around quickly tryin' to catch a glimpse of it but she had moved on too quickly for me to follow. Wasn't that always the way?

Finally giving up I looked into the blonde girl's eyes. They seemed familiar in an unfamiliar sort of way. "Who are you? Did he send you?" I demanded.
