have you tried taking you sewing machine to a shop for a maintenance? that might make it work a bit better!

i have one of the basic models of bernette (bernette 56 to be exact, by bernina, i don't know if you can get them there) and i've been very happy with it. as far as i know it's not THAT expensive but reliable, and it's a popular brand here in finland. we have them in our school (a bit fancier model), in fact i've seen them in every school i've gone to :) we also have a few pfaff ones and they are usually the ones that people have problems with.

over all i prefer - especially with delicate fabrics and seems - my greatgreatgrandmother's singer that you have to paddle to get it going. there's nothing simpler or easier to control!

Somehow often people look at me now.

hmm, sounds like you have a chance to get forward in your career ;D

bf's mom said the machine has always been trouble.

We have Bernina over here as well, but so far the cheapest I found is a Bernina 1008 which costs almost a thousand euros :S
We can also get Singer over here.

I guess I will have to look into some more and maybe try to find some reviews of the machines. Because if more people have trouble with Pfaff I'd better not give them my money.

Thanks for your comment, it was very useful.

my mom always used singer and not the expensive ones. And they work good i guess. I never tried because i guess my fingers will be between the needle and the fabrick is some sort of strange way. But good luck with finding a new one!

and good luck with the cold, hopefully it is over soon!

If I was you I'd save up for a better/more expensive one too! Otherwise you'll just end up with the same problems over and over again...
