I love your view point of Cally (tho' you know that since we play together). This piece for her - finely written and finely tuned. The reader can "see" within the character and what you have shown is the human busting to be herself, but due to situation, isn't "allowed" ...society values, strength, stoicism, etc. To see vulnerability, not allowed.

Ooh. Very nice. I like this, because it's true. Cally's been through some very traumatic crap, and she doesn't seem to break at all. She just keeps smiling.

Wow, this is such an insightful portrayal of Cally. She's experienced a hell of a lot since the world's ended, but you never see her falling apart or complaining. I can really feel her loneliness, and the saddness that no one seems to see through the fake smiles she puts on her face and really listen to what's going on in her head. It makes me want to give her a hug.

Cally! Oh, and she's trying to be a brave soldier and doing such a good job of it. Very sad, very sweet, and very well written.
