in fact, J-Randomly, I noticed that "Dollhouse" has a character named Echo who's called a "Doll." Synchronicity makes me twitchy. (Especially since Garran likes banging the malleability drum for Ping, and that's apparently what Dollhouse is all up to. Creepy ( Read more... )

If it helps, in the show they're generally called Actives rather than dolls. I think they were referred to as dolls all of once in the show, and that only to justify the name Dollhouse for the operation.

But yes, I also noticed that.

I think they've been referred to as dolls by people outside the organization on several occasions. The malleability of Whedon's dolls fills me with the same horror as the aforementioned, be they of Garran or Gallagher.

I can't shake the feeling that "the Gallagher-Garran device" should be an important part of futuretech, somehow.

I don't have the faintest idea what it would do, though. I just like the name.
