Yeah they went about it the wrong way, but what do you think about the agressive gangs of middle eastern gentlemen? what can be done about that? I think its really wrong, the way they did this and stuff, but obviously agression and resentment has been building up over time. Maybe for some its because theyre different, and maybe for some its because there IS gang type behaviour, and theyre not at all friendly, and quite territorial. *shrugs*... what do you do? Not this.. thats for sure. Really, i think australia has a ehll of a long way to go, considering our lack of culture. I reckon ya can only learn so much from other contries' experiences. :x
I see your point - the people did feel justified in their anger, and their violence. I think we both agree that violence isn't the best solution to violence, and that it is a hard problem with no easy solution.
I guess what bugs me is that innocent people who have never been involved in gang activity were on the receiving end of some of this violence. I agree that we have a long way to go; maybe instead of looking inward to solve this problem we should look at the rest of the world where in some countries people from many backgrounds have managed to live peacefully together for generations, and ask how they do it.
I'm not sure what the solution to the problem is, but I'm sure that the methods people tried yesterday are not it.
