I LOVED this movie. Loved loved (although the ending was a little over-the-top homage-y). I think it should be one of those universal favorites. Strange that the critics weren't keen, but I think it's popular - when I mentioned liking it on twitter I swear a bunch of people piped up that they liked it too.
