I'm adamant about this: the new Rufus live double-disc (with mixed feelings, I admit that it's named Rufus Does Judy Garland at Carnegie Hall) is unbelievably good. Like, sincerely the best new released thing I've heard in several years, I think. Admittedly, most of what I listen to now dates from 1940 to 1990 and is very much comprised of jazz ( Read more... )

As much as I adore Rufus, I really really don't want to buy this CD :( I don't really like live music and Judy Garland? Really? It seems so... I don't even know.

BUT. If you say it's that fantastic, I may have to give it a listen anyway.

It's good to hear from you! _name_taken_ December 19 2007, 04:34:44 UTC
:o

LOL, ah well. At least you don't like Martha. Right?;)

I haven't really loved any of his albums since the self-titled, so this was great for me. His voice is in the best form it's ever been, I think. (If you say you hate the artwork though, I would wholeheartedly agree!)

Anyway, I dig jazzy, swingy stuff, but I understand it's not universal.

Oh Martha... I'll always remember her guitar BLINDING ME at that Rufus concert ;D Yeah, I'm not a huge fan. Her voice is very grating!

I do enjoy jazz/swing... hmmm... now you've got me really thinking about it. Maybe I'll get some gift cards for Christmas and put them to use :D

(And yeah, it's nice to see a post from you! What are you up to these days, anyway?)
