House S2 Finale

Jun 01, 2006 08:40

I'm not going to wax on about the symbolism of anything. Robots. Exploding testicles. Whatever. Because I'm pretty sure it's been discussed ad nauseum, so I'll simply say, I liked it, nod to Lathe of Heaven and all. (Ah, but can you imagine what it would be like if House could affect the shape of reality with his dreams - House M.D.! Now with 80% ( Read more... )

Yeah, see, that works. Everyone else has either been going "Yeah, he's miserable and he likes being miserable which is why he's not fixed his pain", or "He's not miserable, he's just complex, and he's not actually remotely angsty at all", both of which make me want to hurl things at my screen. Basically, thanks. I like this interpretation of things.

I think a lot of it has to do with the idea of Wilson=House's Greek Chorus, and the viewers' willingness to believe everything Jimmy says about him as true. Because Wilson's his best friend, knows House best, etc., etc. without taking into account that perhaps he might be inaccurate, possibly wrong or even projecting some things.

There is no absolute truth on the show. Everybody lies. Everybody projects. Assumes. Interprets things through their own filter. So why do many folks assume what Wilson/Cuddy/or anybody spouts off about House as incontrovertible?

Wilson is so screwed up. I mean, that's why I like him so damn much. He's incredibly fucked up and he doesn't even realize it. :D He has absolutely no room to be talking about House, because his own issues are making his head a very crowded space.

I lurk on the metathreads that tend not to trust Wilson's/Cuddy's views of House, mostly, and that's my way of dodging that problem.

If they fix his leg, I will still watch. I am waaay too far gone to worry about sharks and the jumping of. They could cast the Fonz in an integral role and I'd still buy it.

But they won't fix him. He needs to be all shaky and unsteady and stuff when he finally does Cam against the glass wall in episode 3x11.

I would totally watch the Fonz ayyyyyyy-ing up the show. Folks are way too eager to hop on the shark wagon. It's practically passé.

Yes! And it'll be all awkward and fumbling and painful in parts and people will be alternately disturbed and fascinated, yet unable to stop watching because despite everything it'll still be ridiculously hot.

Ooh, hello. I did like it but it was a little confusing for me because I'm a bit thick.

Eh, dream theory's all conjecture and bullshit anyway. With enough duct tape and willful interpretation, you can pretty much build a case for just about anything.

Robo-molestation means:
  • House so wants to have sex with Cam.
  • House touches Cam via robot arms to keep a distance from her, because she's only a placeholder for what he really wants: which is to make babies with Cuddy.
  • House is displaying a classic fear of intimacy, whereby he can only engage in any tender behavior through a proxy.
  • House is, like, a total dom control-freak. Creep.
  • House actually wanted Wilson/Chase/Foreman on the table, but the censors are a bunch of conservative old prudes and would never let it happen. DAMN YOU FOX NETWORKS, DAMN YOU!
  • Dude, wanna watch it again?

How special a hell would I be going to if I said I completely thought that was where it was going? What with the rumors about Sela Ward being brought back for the season finale, and all.
Hi, by the way. And as regards your query of a few entries down -- yes, it does.

I had no idea about the Sela Ward rumors, but count me in that special hell as well because I would have been cackling at the nuclear combustion that could have ensued from all the confusion and Stacy haaaate (and not that I'm in love with Stacy either - I do think that the character was badly shoehorned into the show, which is a pity and waste, because the House/Stacy dynamics could have been a fascinating insight into House, his relationships, and how it all fell apart - instead of just mildly dull).

As for the Profit link, THANK YOU. I would kiss you right now, but I haven't brushed my teeth yet.

I laugh because it's funny -- I made myself into a Stacy fan through sheer force of will as soon as I figured out how far in the other direction fandom was about to go. (I'm told that that's the kind of thing that will prevent me from ever having any kind of normal, fulfilling relationship with another human being.)

No need to thank me for passing the link along -- if furthering the cause of the underground Profit revival (if there is such a thing) isn't a noble and worthy goal, I don't know what is. And it's a damn shiny piece of writing.
