There was a time, gosh, almost ten years ago, that my china painting teacher and I took a road-trip. We drove from Lake Placid to Topsail Island, North Carolina. On that trip, we stayed in a house on the beach for about a week. No phone, no television...just the ocean. It was wonderfully cleansing and incredibly centering. When we left, despite my young age, I felt more centered than I ever had, and more so than I have since.
Another trip she and I took was to the Appalachian Mountains. Just being in the mountains and seeing the world from a different perspective (literally) helped me see things differently metaphorically.
To this day, I cherish those times. Whenever I'm feeling lost of overwhelmed, I do my best to revisit those experiences and the feelings that come with the memories.
