Everything was black, but I heard this weird beeping sound. Beep Beep Beep, over and over again in perfect rhythm. I opened my eyes and squinted at the brightness of the room and I moaned. I felt achy and stiff all over, like I'd been sleeping for years ( Read more... )

I nodded to Giles and quietly left the room as they were all still talking about Angelus. God, I never wanted to hear that name again unless it was in reference to his death.

I walked down the hall, making my way over to room 213. All of a sudden, alarms are going off. I knew in the pit of my stomach why.

I hurried on, jogging down the hall, reaching the room and opening the door, seeing Buffy out of bed, the machines protesting loudly.

I sighed. "Buffy, Buffy, sweetie, it's mom, you're okay, you're okay, you have to get back in bed."

I went over to her, put an arm around her, and tried to guide her back to the bed as I kept reassuring her that she was okay and I wasn here and wouldn't leave her side.

"No, no!" I protested as I tried to pull away, still ripping sensors off my body. My mom was actually stronger than me for once.

"I can't stay here," I pleaded as she led me back to the bed. "Please, Mom, take me home. I'm ok now. I don't need to be here."

"Buffy Anne Summers, you need to stay here, you almost died." I said as I got her back into bed.

"And the fact that I'm stronger than you right now proves that." I felt bad for snapping at her. I'm just such a wreck right now.

"I know you're afraid of hospitals, sweetie, but I'm right here and I'm not leaving you. Now lay down and rest."

As I finished saying that, some nurses came into the room. What's going on in here?"

"She doesn't like hospitals. It's okay, I'm her mother. Just do what you have to to make that noise stop."

I quited down when the nurse came in, not wanting her to sedate me or strap me to the bed. She hit a couple buttons, reconnected everything, scowling at me the whole time, and then she finally left. The second she was out of earshot, I turned to my mom and sat up again.

"Please, mom, go find the doctor and make him sign me out. I'm ok. I'll heal by tomorrow morning. But I can't stay here. Neither can you." I could feel my expression twisting as tears streamed down my face. All I could think of was my cousin. "What if I don't wake up?"
