"No, I couldn't do that. I don't want you in trouble because I couldn't deal with my drunk parents."

"Oh please, Xander! When they come home, I want you to meet them. They're really not bad. I think they'll like you", I say looking at him.

Sure, my parents would leave me home alone for weeks, sometimes months at a time, but I was so used to it, it didn't bother me too much.

They send me postcards when they are away and do care for me, when they are home.
