This is actually set in ratherastory's Fusion series, which is my favorite SPN thing in the UNIVERSE right now, and I am clinging to it like a lifeboat. Lalala who's ignoring S6 oh yes that's ME.

Oh, YAY, I really, really liked this. It makes so much sense that with Sam drifting in and out of reality, he would expect Dean's amulet to be there. Such a nice little ficlet! Thanks so much for sharing!!

Yeah, I thought so too. :) He gets mixed up about which period this is and where the amulet might be, poor boy. But he doesn't forget how important it is, and he knows Dean'll want it back some day.
