So!  I'm a Supernatural fan now.  It's very sudden and yet very, very powerful.

My roommate and I have been brainstorming about girl!Dean and the myriad of accompanying gender issues, and last night she burned out three awesome fics which everyone should read.  I wrote one of my own.

This was really great! Girl!Dean is a good deal more difficult to write, I think. You really captured how damn confusing that would have been for her, and her reactions were so realistic. And John handling it was spot on.

This is interesting. Is it possible that having a daughter would soften him up to a certain degree? Would he still be as hardcore as the John we know and love?

There is so much to think about with the idea of girl!Sam or girl!Dean. Originally, the idea of girl!Sam appealed to me more, but since I realized how many gender issues would come up with girl!Dean, it's all I can think about.

I don't think having a daughter would soften John up at all. Especially with girl!Dean, who I think would throw herself into being a tough boy very early on. It would be easy for John to treat her the same way he treated Dean.

Oh, I have plenty of ideas now for girl!Dean...I really won't have time to give it the attention I'd like to. Maybe after I graduate in a month. Do check out the other fics I linked to at the top of this entry, though - they're awesome and explore the gender issues far more than I did.
