Oooh I forgot about that one that place was great and I loved the owner. I have no idea where I put the card he gave me now. That was the one where he said if I had a request for a certain fish he would get it in for me yes?

The Japanese place opposite the new University buildings at Crichton Street is good, and reasonable.

The Ship on the Shore is good if you like things wot swim.

The Witchery was very nice when I went there, but eye-wateringly expensive. This was a few years ago now, so no idea if standards are still the same.

Oh yeah, Izzi on Lothian Road is also good for Japanese/Chinese things.

See now you are talking about Koi at the uni which we think is awful *grin* actually not awful just more hit or miss.

The food is good more often than not and one of the waiters is wicked but the management is terrible, the waitresses were more concerned with checking their hair in the mirrors all the time and the first time we went I ended up having a talk with the manageress and payin less for our meal. We went back a second time adn the food was ho hum but the third time we went back for tepanyaki and I had a really good time with yummy food.

My favourite Edinburgh restaurant is Fishers (the one on the shore though, not the one in town) expensive but worth every penny. Nom nom nom...Also, if it's still there, Maison Bleu on Victoria St is fab and not too expensive. We had our wedding meal there.

Excellent will check them out. I've started climbing again though so I might be making myself too poor to do any fun things for a while

What about in Glasgow?

We haven't eaten out much in Glasgow really....Piccolo Mondo is a great Italian, and they have a fab fixed price menu (£50 for 2, which is 3 courses plus apperitif on arrival and a bottle for wine!) Can't really think of any others, like I say, we don't tend to go out for dinner much. I can however highly recommend a pub in the city centre for decent cheap pub grub. Its called Muse and is on Queen st. Its very laid back and not at all pretentious, and bizarrely is always quite quiet, even on Sat night, so you can always get a seat/table.
