I'm enjoying Elementary way more than I thought I would? I didn't like the pilot much [and I've been trying to stop watching so many cop shows], but I watched the first 8 or so episodes in one day and now I'm in solely because I love every single actor on this show more than I even knew I loved them. I don't think the procedural part of it is that great, but I'm having fun with the characters, which is something I never get from CSI/Criminal Minds/L&O/etc.

The Following was a bit of a disappointment for me. I was expecting Kevin Williamson to go to all meta all the time, like in the Scream movies, and instead I'm having the hardest time believing the psycho professor has ANY charisma at all. I find him boring, and mostly irritating? I don't know, I keep wishing Kevin Bacon were the cult leader. Also, I think they're gonna milk the everyone-can-be-a-follower thing to the max, and so we're gonna get big shockers like TROY VANDERGRAFF being a follower DUN DUN DUN season finale.

HI. :)

Hi, hi, hi! =)

I enjoyed Elementary before I even watched an episode, mostly because of the fact that a female Watson had to be miiiiiiles better than a male one. Plus, you know, Lucy Liu. But even I'm surprised at how much I love it and how fannish I feel about it.

I've given up most of the police procedurals. Season 7 of Criminal Minds couldn't make up for the clusterfuck of season 6 (yeah, let's get rid of all the women, that's a GREAT idea؟) and the only one I'm still watching (I think?) is Rookie Blue. Which is another kettle of fish because it's not a procedural as such.

Oh man, having Kevin Bacon as the cult leader would have been awesome! I agree, Purefoy isn't really delivering the charisma, it's more smarm than anything else.

I saw you mentioning the follower problem on Twitter, and I agree. But you know what I just realized would be the greatest mindfuck of all? If the wife is the actual cult leader. That would be a twist I'd enjoy. Except now that I've thought of it, it's going to seem obvious if it happens.

I'm absolutely mad about Elementary. I could care less about the crime-solving aspect of it, given the plethora of police procedural shows I am watching and have watched throughout the years. For me, the show's brilliance lies in the relationship between Joan and Sherlock. Lucy and Jonny have the sort of chemistry that can't be manufactured - Actors either have it or they don't, and I think those two have it in spades. I love that Sherlock takes pride in and actively encourages Joan's fledgling attempts at deduction, and more importantly, that Joan contributes to Sherlock's endeavors in a tangible, meaningful way. I was concerned that she would be little more than a decorative sidekick, and I'm so pleased to be proven otherwise. Lucy was fantastic in Southland and as disappointed as I am that she can't reprise her role in the upcoming season, I think Elementary is the perfect vehicle for her. Her performance is understated but extremely powerful.

I really wanted to like The Following, but I'm a little sick of television shows that ( ... )

I usually enjoy mystery aspects of shows (one reason why VM was so near and dear to my heart), but I feel like Elementary is too much like any old procedural in that aspect. But what makes it amazing is the relationship between Joan and Sherlock.

I really wanted to like The Following, but I'm a little sick of television shows that attempt to make serial killers into some sort of ineffable God
I've always been morbidly interested in serial killers, but I agree that fictional ones are getting tired and stale. Mostly because it's always the same schtick, where the brilliant but sick and twisted mind can only be taken down by some loner even more brilliant. I know they're usually smart (because otherwise they wouldn't get away with it for so long), but they're not, like you say, God.

I feel like the more I think about The Following, the more problems I see with it (mainly with the longevity), but for now I'm enjoying it, so I'll stick with it for a bit.

I love Shameless! It's just ridiculous and so entertaining to me. The acting is pretty great, too. :)

I've finally caught up and am actually in the middle of watching the latest episode. And I'm so glad I didn't watch it on my vacation this summer (even though I brought it), because I needed something to watch during January Hiatus Hell and this was perfect! Now I just need something new to marathon...

Your Buffy icon is a thing of beauty. I just love the emotion on her face and the way that the close crop really makes it the centre of attention. I, for one, am super happy that you're back with a working copy of PS and might soon be back to icon making again ( ... )

Thank you, I have mad crazy love for it, even if it is cropped kind of weirdly (cutting off her chin and all that).

Chicago Fire is basically all about the fic for me though.
Oh, see that sound like fun, but I haven't been into fic for almost five years now (the only reason I can read 100+ books a year these days). I wish I could find something that drew me back into fic, but my main attraction is always an OTP and I haven't been obsessing about one of those since...Erica/Kai, probably. And there was NO fic for that pairing. Not to mention it being torpedoed in canon pretty quickly. So...

Have you only seen the pilot episode?I tried to watch episode 5 yesterday (I'd been keeping up week-to-week until this week), but I got bored and turned off the computer instead. It just cannot hold my attention. Which seems like a pretty clear sign that it's not for me ( ... )
