Do you mean this? Because, well, that's going to cost money, and while I don't mind paying to watch, I'd prefer paying the copyright holder. Of course, for me, as a member of fandom, not watching at all is not an option. I can't even imagine how much stuff I'd be spoiled for!
I do belong to a private torrent site, and I don't think the danger is very high there, but I'm so behind on everything anyway, that getting them from alternative sources isn't a hardship for me.
Yeah. Hm, well, I was thinking about getting one myself even though I'm in the States, because seedboxes make it easier to keep your ratio up at private torrent sites.
I've got something like 1 TB of torrenting to do before I reach 1:1, so I'm pretty happy with where I'm at right now, torrent-wise. =) I guess in the end, it'll all depend on how much I need to resort to something like that.
I completely agree with you on HIMYM. this whole season I've been waiting for some advancement with the characters, but there really hasn't been any at all. it's still hilarious, though, so I don't notice it so much.
As a 'shipper, I do want certain things from the show, but even when trying to factor that out, I still feel like we're just meandering right now. I feel like we should be getting some awesome build-up, but the build-up (to anything, it doesn't matter) never happens, and now we're almost at season's end.
Gah! You voiced my concern about this season of HIMYM just perfectly. I was thinking about this the other day. I mean, obviously I'll still watch it no matter what, but I don't know if it's the show or me, but I'm not feeling the intensity this season. I don't *have to* watch it immediately like I have the past couple of seasons.
The quality of the show still feels about on par with what it's been for the past three seasons, but...it's like they ran out of stories to tell or something!
HIMYM is still one of the very few shows I watch as soon as I can, but lately it feels like I do it more in order not to be spoiled than because I HAVE TO SEE IT RIGHT NOW! You know?
I do think that a lot of the driving force last year came from fandom and its glee over B/R, but certainly not all of it. And this year, the only thing that's happened is that they chipped away a bit of what I loved most about Robin, and they didn't dump the Barney-loves-Robin storyline. Other than that, it feels like we're going in circles.
Caroline doesn't resonate with me AT ALL. Like, not even a little bit of what she did in this episode worked for me, because it was just stupid to go back in, and I didn't think it was brave/smart/compassionate. It was pure dumb luck that it worked out for her (because going back in, she had absolutely no plan, and no idea of what her own capabilities were). I'm still more invested in November than Echo, but not by a whole lot. Sierra, however, has my full attention.
I'm not frustrated with the storyline, but I am caring less and less, which means no squee, no posting, no picspams... I think that cutting back on the continuity/arcs is a mistake. It makes the show more generic and less an object of obsession, which is the best way to get people to spend money.
You're absolutely right, they did let her, and I'm sure Joss means for us to think Caroline is this big-hearted person who tries her darndest for every living creature, but what I see is someone whose impulsiveness leads to the destruction of others. I'm not connecting at all. About the only positive thing I can say about her is that at least she's not the title character! There is a chance that she'll leave one day and Dollhouse will continue anyway. I mean, not that I believe that's what will happen, but I need that inkling of hope. (Haha, as if Fox is going to keep it on the air after this season anyway.)
Re: HIMYM, all I can think of is the network wanted them to do more stand-alone episodes to help get the ratings up. The ratings have been good this season, so maybe there will be more season-long arcs next season if it's renewed? I'm not sure what else could be the reason because those arcs have always been part of the show in other seasons.
The commenter below you said that that was in fact the case. But you know what I think is sad? I think that people tuned in this year due to the buzz created by last year's arc, and they're staying tuned because they enjoy it. But the lack of arc this year is stifling the creation of new buzz, so they're not building all that much.
