That's good to hear. Usually I find myself becoming disappointed with movies made from books (okay, pretty much always) and since I really like Dexter I don't want it to ruin the show for me. Though, who knows? Maybe they won't base season 2 on book 2 (or book 3 for that matter).

I was just thinking that if the books start selling, the TV show creators might want to take the storyline in a different direction so that there won't be spoilers floating around before the season even starts airing. But maybe they're not that concerned about that? It doesn't seem like the show is supposed to be all about the reveal.

I just read the first book this week and in all honesty I think the TV series is far superior. The supporting characters are hardly mentioned in the book and are way more fleshed out in the series. The book seems so shallow in comparison to all that gets delved into in the series. If you're still curious though, maybe you can just get it from the library like I did.

That's almost disappointing since I was hoping for the books to provide a stronger emotional connection to the characters. Though, in my case I think I mostly just feel the need to connect to Dexter himself more, so maybe the book will accomplish at least that?

I doubt my local library will have an English version of the book, and I can't imagine reading a translation. The books aren't all that expensive really.

Oh yeah, forgot you lived in a non-English speaking country. Must be a bummer not to have an English library around! I use mine all the time for books, CDs and DVDs.

I could probably find it at a library somewhere in the city, but I prefer owning books and DVDs anyway, I hate being tied to a schedule, especially when it comes to reading. Either I devour a book immediately or I can go months without even cracking it open.

"As you may have heard there is still one final episode of Green Wing which has not yet been aired. The 90 minutes long special was filmed at the same time as series two and will be broadcast in the UK on Thursday 4th January 2007 - we expect it to tie up most of the loose storylines such as what happens to Dr Mac and the repercussions of the latest literal cliff hanger.

Bizarrely the special will be shown in Australia first. Our friends down under get to watch it on the UKTV Channel at 9pm on Friday 29 December... so there could be some spoilers floating around the net between the Friday and the following Thursday!"

Thanks for the info! If it's shown in Australia first I'm going to bet the farm that it will be available online that very day. There's always some industrious young person in every country.

I'm extremely amused that the DVD is being released four days after it airs. Those Brits sure are quick!

Thanks for warning about spoilers, I won't go there then. =)

I loved the season finale of "Dexter". I had the vague idea that Rudy might be Dexter's brother two episodes ago or so. But the way they revelaed it was great nontheless. I loved the flashbacks and all.
I was thinking about buying the first book as well, but I'm still not sure if I should do it. I don't think it can be better than the show, but like you, I'd like to have another view on the character Dexter. I began to like him more, because the last couple of episodes he didn't kill anyone. But I'm pretty sure he'll continue doing that next season.

I kind of gave up thinking about twists when they revealed Rudy in whatever-episode-they-revealed-him-in because at that point I figured that the show wasn't about those kinds of things, and then it turns out it was! And I was just happy with it anyway so this just made it even better and I'm really looking forward to the rewatch.

Most people seem to love Dexter, but I just can't. I find him fascinating, and I like his relationship with Deb, for instance, but I don't like his relationship with Rita so much because I think she'll get hurt in the end. It's interesting to watch, but I can't root for them by any means.

I was inadvertently spoiled a few weeks back that they were brothers, but it didn't end up ruining it much for me, because the last hour played out in very unexpected ways. A marvelous series.

I have a feeling that the reveal will add a lot of layers to the show when I rewatch, and I'm all for layers.

I think the finale did a lot for taking Dexter out of that "safe" box that a lot of fans have been putting him in. I mean, he was actually considering killing Debra, and I think a lot of people have been rationalizing his killing ways in ways that that moment can't be rationalized. So yes, definitely unexpected ways.
