dude, NX! i bought the first two seasons from AmazonUK too because, here in the US, they're riDICulously expensive...something like nearly $90 for the both of them, whereas the UK price works out to about $30. same thing with the x-files...and soemday i'll save up enough to order all of that from them, too :)
When I first put them on my wish list a month or so ago they were about 15 pounds each, but today they were 8 and 9 pounds, respectively. I couldn't not buy them.
You know, I was wondering about this last night, too. There's no way they can get Jim and Pam together yet, because then the show really loses one of the best things it's got going for it, but I really can't see how they can continue the Jim/Pam relationship if Pam gets married. It would be totally unrealistic to me that Jim would stay there if she were married, since he's already made it clear she's the only reason he hasn't gotten a better job. So I'm trying to figure out exactly how they can keep Pam and Roy together without them actually getting married. Maybe a family member dies and they call off the wedding indefinitely? A particularly damaging financial hardship of some kind? I'm not really sure what it would take.
I can actually see them developing a storyline where Pam and Jim have a secret relationship and working that angle, but unless Pam stays with Roy in some capacity they're going to have to change their relationship pretty soon or it'll just seem stupid. The kind of stupid where you stop 'shipping because the couple are just being idiots and not being together for no reason. I HATE that.
There were discussions in lapses' journal about what would happen, and I offered the suggestion that maybe Pam finds out Roy cheated on her and she breaks off the engagement. But then when we return next year we find out that she's taken him back because of their long history or somesuch.
Hmmm. I could see the secret relationship thing working, but I don't know how long that could go on. Well, I mean. I think it'd be cool if they even kept it a secret from the audience, you know? Like, maybe we'd get clues if we were paying close attention, and the documentary guys might pick up on it and follow them around a little bit more like they do with Dwight and Angela, and always just miss catching them doing something they don't want anyone to see. That could be a good way of stretching it out for awhile, anyway.
Though, I think your second idea is much more plausible. It seems a much more Pam thing to do, too. I can already hear her half apologetic interviews explaining why she got back with Roy. Though, at some point, you're right. Watching Jim and Pam not fix their lives could get really old really fast if the writers aren't careful. Not that it isn't realistic, but it's very frustrating for the audience. :p
GG has been horrible. I can't manage to care at all about any of the relationships. Were they really out of ideas for Lane? Because a marriage proposal from Zach? COME ON. Logan and Rory bore me to tears, I don't see love at all in that relationship. Luke and Lorelai are so disappointing, I can't even discuss it.
I know exactly what you mean. I really thought I'd follow this show to the grave, but right now I just can't seem to care. About anyone. Not even Lorelai. Or Luke. I'm pissed off that it seems they're only dragging out the L/L storyline because they can't get married until the end. Seriously? If this is how it's going to be for an entire season? I'm going to be hoping that they break up. At least then they weren't spineless and dull.
In a way, so do I. Because catching up with Dawn in the Christmas Specials, you can't help but think that she's an idiotic twit for still being with that asshole. So having to watch that play out over a long time? Probably torturous. But I also can't imagine them putting Jim and Pam together. And I definitely can't see Pam rejecting Jim if he ever did make a move.
Basically, I can't see any scenario really working. Except for possibly the "secret relationship" scenario I mentioned to Heather. But then again, that is my foolproof kink, so... *g*
What a boring, dragging episode of Gilmore Girls it was. I kept waiting for something to happen, some sort of explosion from Lorelai or Luke finding out about the babysitting of Gigi or something to move the L/L storylines along. And barely any scenes between them and a wedding no one cares about coupled with Rory/Logan stories which I have so little interest in.
And since I'd just seen Wedding Bell Blues the other night I just wanted to lock Christopher up in a room with his bratoid for say 2-3 days as I dislike Christopher's character intensely.
I did enjoy drunk Rory and drunk Doyle but really, Jonathon Strong can do no wrong in my back.
What really kills me is that it must have been a sweeps episode, right? I think it was the most pointless episode in the history of forever. I mean, stuff happened, but it was stuff that was of absolutely no interest to me, and I doubt anyone cared at all. Well, it did bug me that Lane/Zach got a better proposal than Luke/Lorelai, but I doubt that's where they intended for my mind to go.
