March madness

So, whoever knew I'd ever be this excited about The West Wing again? Or that I'd be this spoiled? Not me, that's for sure. ( More spoilers. )

teevee1, tv: amazing race, spoilers, tv: west wing

Say what you will about the non-Sorkin years (they suck) but at least it looks like it's going to end well. And I love endings -- you know where you are with a good ending.

Well, they may suck compared to the Sorkin years. But compared to something like Grey's Anatomy and Lost, it's still really freaking good writing and characterization. Yeah, that's right, I SAID IT. ;-)

You'll see what I'm talking about when Studio 60 comes on. I know of NO ONE who watched Sorkin straight, week to week, who doesn't flail around on the ground about how bad the writing is. We're a very spoiled fandom.

You are, however, totally correct about those other shows. Have you ever SEEN Commander-in-Chief? Dear god.

I guess I hated season 5 so much that it created a total disconnect in the way I viewed the show, so these days I don't compare the writing to Sorkin's, I compare it to other shows I watch. And while it's worse than some, it's infinitely better than most.

Have you ever SEEN Commander-in-Chief? Dear god.
I finished the first episode, but I could tell within ten minutes that it wasn't fit for public consumption.

Eeeeee! SO excited about everyone who's returning. Sam is definitely the best news, but I think Ainsley was the biggest surprise. There's been speculation all season about whether Rob Lowe would return, but I never expected to see Emily Procter again, especially since I thought her contract on CSI precluded her from appearing on other shows. She's the secondary character I've missed more than anyone.

And everyone else! It's so weirdly comforting to see so many familiar names. I never liked Amy, but I love Mary-Louise Parker, and seeing her again (as long as I completely purge my brain of Jefferson Lives) is going to be such a throwback to when I marathoned TWW like it was my job.

(SAAAAAAAAAAM!)

Of course? This means I'm terrified about the dialogue. And the character interactions. And whether the writers will screw it up.

Maybe Ainsley and Sam have reconnected somehow and that's her "in". I can't really see why else she'd be hanging around the White House at this point.

And like I told Tissa, there's no way this won't be awesome, just by virtue of Sam returning. Yeah, I'm aware I have a Sam fetish. And I'm okay with that. =)

I hadn't thought of that -- I've been assuming everyone will be back because of Leo. I'm not spoiled for stuff that doesn't relate to J/D, but I'm guessing there is gonna be a funeral?

You're probably right, actually, I just assumed that since they're returning at the very end of the season and from what I understand John Spencer died as they were filming episode 15 (or about to start) that the funeral would be sooner.

Maybe it's some kind of memorial thing? Or maybe they're picking up three years into the future, where the season started off? NO CLUE, really.

I know what you mean about Joey Lucas. She will never be just Joey! And yay for her being on!

It's too bizarre calling her just Joey, I have to add the Lucas or I'll implode. =)

Saaam! I'll have to finish Farscape before Sunday and find a way to watch seasons 6 and 7 before the finale! Yeah, that will happen.

Hahahaha! You are really the optimistic type aren't you? And hey, what does "finish Farscape" entail, anyway? Do you have all of season 4 plus PKW to watch, or half of season 4 and PKW? Or maybe just PKW? Though I think any latecomer should be forced to wait at least a week between Bad Timing and PKW. Hey, I waited years, one week isn't going to kill someone. May be close though.

As for seasons 6 and 7, maybe you could do a Highlights Edition? That might help.

18 episodes and PKW! Should be cake. I promise I'll wait a whole day before watching the mini, does that work? 24 entire hours. Come on.

I'll wait until Tissa is back in town and borrow her discs. I need to find out what's important. I caught a few episodes on tv here and there, most from season 6, but I'm lost. Why did I stop watching? How did I not guess that everyone in the flist of the journal I didn't have yet would be into it and make me all excited? Bad sixth sense.

I bought S5 on DVD so you can borrow that, but my S6 discs are with Marcia. You'll probably have to blackmail her to get those. *g*

Juju has S6 on disc though -- she copied it for me -- so you can probably ask her.
