Well, that didn't help

Well, I went to the first session of the unit I was thinking of dropping, and of course it turned out to be pretty interesting, and the group I'm supposed to be doing presentations with is decent. And I have a seed of an idea for an essay too ( Read more... )

Yeah I know. That's exactly what I thought, but I'm not sure I'll do well on the assessment, so I'm wondering if I could drop it as a unit for credit but audit it to get the knowledge. But then I still have the stress of effectively doing 5 modules.

I suppose I could do all 3 core modules (theory, researching and writing, and medieval skills) and drop the interesting option, but then I'd feel I was missing out on one of the things I really wanted to learn about. There's no way I'm dropping medieval skills, I get to learn palaeography! (also the assessment looks easier).

Argh indeed. Can you keep the theory and sit in on the identity classes? It's one less thing to read up and write essays about, but you still get to know stuff about it. And if you're feeling stressed later, skip that class and ask your classmates if you can photocopy their notes or something.

That's my tutor's suggestion, but the identity course seems good and I'd definitely prefer to write that essay rather than the theory one. I'd rather sit in on the theory one (and skip it when necessary). I'm going to talk to her about it today I think (would like to know what she meant by 'risk of failing' before I decide though).

I'm currently massively stressed about this, and the amount of reading I have.
