Buffy/Angel Fanmix:
Okay, so this fanmix is basically made up of songs that I heard and thought they described the saga known as "Bangel" pretty much perfectly. Anyway, the songs are ordered from the beginning of Buffy and Angel to the end of Buffy when Angel came back and they made with the smoochies :) So, before each song name I am going to give a little explanation on why the song is in the mix and what scene of Bangel it goes with.
01. All Around Me by Flyleaf
"I can feel you all around me, thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding onto what I'm feeling, savoring this heart that's healed."
I picked this song as number one on the list to symbolize season 1 of BtVS and Buffy and Angel's relationship throughout the season. Angel is always skulking around her, and they can feel each other everywhere they go.
02. First Time by Lifehouse
"Maybe I'm wrong, I'm feeling right where I belong
With you tonight, like being in love to feel for the first time."
This song is at number 2 on the listing to describe the start of Buffy and Angel's serious relationship, mainly at the beginning of Season 2. The lyrics are perfect to describe the rush of love they feel for each other.
03. I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing by Aerosmith
"I just wanna hold you close, feel your heart so close to mine
And just stay here in this moment, for all the rest of time."
So, I'm sure a lot of people associate this song with Buffy and Angel. This song was put in here to show the strengthening of their relationship in Season 2, getting close to "Surprise" when they sleep together.
04. Listen To Your Heart (Slow) by DHT
"The scent of magic, the beauty that's been
When love was wilder, than the wind."
This song was put on here to symbolize Buffy's conscience basically. She loves Angel so much in her heart, but knows deep down that he is a vampire and what she's doing could potentially be dangerous. But of course, she gives in :)
05. Stolen by Dashboard Confessional
"You are the best one, of the best ones
We all look like we feel, you have stolen my,
You have stolen my heart."
Stolen was put on the listing because the overall meaning of the song is complete surrender to your heart and how your heart feels. By this time it's the beginning of the "Surprise" episode, and Buffy and Angel are at the point where they both own each other's hearts.
06. The Secret's In The Telling by Dashboard Confessional
"The signal is subtle, we pass just close enough to touch
No questions or answers, we know by now to say enough
With only simple words, with only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another."
"There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep, because tonight may be
The last chance we'll be given, we are compelled to do
What we must do, we are compelled to do what we
Have been forbidden."
Unfortunately, because of a curse by gypsies, one moment of perfect happiness and Angel becomes Angelus. This song signifies Buffy and Angel consumating their relationship.
07. Pretty Girl by Sugarcult
"It's the way, that he makes you feel
It's the way, that he kisses you
It's the way, that he makes you fall in love."
This song fits in perfectly for when Angel turned. It's mainly for the episodes of "Innocence" and "Passion". Buffy now suffers with guilt for what happened to Angel, and he only makes things worse for her, but she still loves him.
08. Leave Out All The Rest by Linkin Park
"When my time comes, forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some, reasons to be missed."
All right so this song is what I call "Angelus' Lament". It's pretty much set to the end of Season 2 just as Angel has his soul restored. It tells how he just wants forgiveness and how he wants to be missed, by her.
09. Close Your Eyes (Buffy/Angel Theme) by Christophe Beck
Instrumental. I put this in the mix because it's such
a beautiful song and it's completely devoted to Buffy/Angel.
Not much of an explanation here. This is put here when Buffy kills Angel and all is sad and loss. I also have it here for the beginning of Season 3 up until the episode "Beauty and the Beasts".
10. Fall For You by Secondhand Serenade
"But hold your breath, because tonight will be
The night that I will fall for you, over again
Don't make me change my mind, or I won't live
To see another day, I swear it's true
'Cause a girl like you is impossible to find
You're impossible to find."
Ok this song is to show how, even though Buffy tries to forget Angel and put their relationship in the past, she falls for him over and over and over again. As does Angel with Buffy. This song goes along with the episode "Beauty and the Beasts" up through the episode "Amends".
11. Fall To Pieces by Avril Lavigne
"You're the only one, I'd be with 'til the end
When I come undone, you bring me back again
Back under the stars, back into your arms."
So this song is what I like to call "Buffy's Lament". Not original, I know. It's basically set for the episode of "Amends" when she is telling Angel how she still loves him despite everything she's done and it's all tears and crazy Buffy/Angel drama.
12. Whatever It Takes by Lifehouse
"I know that I've let you down
And if you give me a chance, believe that I can change
I'll keep us together, whatever it takes."
And then here comes Whatever It Takes. I put this song specifically after Fall To Pieces as Angel's retort to Buffy. He now has accepted his existence back in Sunnydale and wants to do anything and everything to stay with his beloved Buffy.
13. I Can't Hate You Anymore by Nick Lachey
"You walked away, you stole my life
Just to find what you're looking for
But no matter how I try, I can't hate you anymore."
This song is set for "The Prom" and "Graduation Day Part 1". This is coming from the side of Buffy, after Angel tells her he plans to leave her after the Ascension. Even though he's leaving, she can't hate him anymore and finally understands his reasoning. (Though I still don't... dammit Joss!)
14. It's Not Over by Secondhand Serenade
"But it's over, it's over, why is it over?
We had the chance to make it, now it's over
It's over, it can't be over, I wish that I could take it back."
This song is again set for "The Prom" and "Graduation Day Part 1" and is again from Buffy's perspective, well, mainly. She's in denial about it being over between her and Angel, and Angel wishes he could take it back but knows he can't. (I got this idea from watching Graduation Day Part 2, actually. When Angel is delirious and mistakes Willow for Buffy and tells her he was wrong and that he can't leave her.)
15. I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston
"Bittersweet memories, that is all I'm taking with me
So goodbye, please don't cry, we both know
I'm not what you, you need
And I will always love you
I will always love you."
All right, so, this song is set for "Graduation Day Part 2" and for all the cross-over episodes between Buffy and Angel, except for the cross-over in Season 7. The meaning of this for them is very simple. They will always love each other, no matter what.
16. Far Away by Nickelback
"You know, you know that I love you
I have loved you all along
And I miss you, been far away for far too long
I keep dreaming you'll be with me
And you'll never go, stop breathing
If I don't see you anymore."
Originally, I was going to put this song before I Will Always Love You, because it doesn't seem like such a good ending song, but then I read the lyrics and thought it was perfect for the storyline. This has to do with Buffy and Angel being so far away from each other and how much they really miss each other, every day. It is set for all the cross-overs between them and for Season 7 "End of Days" and "Chosen".
