-Start off with your base
-Duplicate your base 2 times. set them both to screen. set the second layer to 12% opacity.
-Colour fill layer #26AB29 set it to soft light at 13% opacity
-make a selective colour adjustment layer
REDS: Cyan: -12
Yellow: +51
YELLOWS: Cyan: +25
Yellow: +15
NEUTRALS: Cyan: +63
Magenta: -17
Yellow: -68
Black: +18
-make another selective colour adjustment layer
REDS: Cyan: -42
Yellow: +66
YELLOWS: Cyan: -100
Yellow: +100
NEUTRALS: Cyan: +70
Yellow: -73
You might need to lower the opacity of this layer or cut it out all together if the icon is too blue
-make a new levels adjustment layer.
62,1.22,255
-make a new hue/saturation adjustment layer. Set saturation to +19 set that layer to 50% opacity.
-colour fill layer #C8B3AE set it to overlay at 30% opacity
-make a new curves adjustment layer
RGB: first point: I:211 O:217
second point: I:188 O:193
RED: first point: I:191 O:205
second point: I:220 O:229
GREEN: first point: I:149 O:132
second point: I:128 O:117
BLUE: first point: I:161 O:155
second point: I:197 O:206
set that layer to 50% opacity
-colour fill layer #D7D7D7 set it to colour burn at 50% opacity
-make a new hue/saturation adjustment layer. set the saturation to +11
-and finally for the colouring make a new selective colour adjustment layer
REDS: Cyan: -27
Yellow: +20
YELLOWS: Cyan: -28
Yellow: +20
NEUTRALS: Cyan: +5
Yellow: +9
You're done with the colouring but if you want the texture part keep going
-Merge everything.
-Paste this texture by peoplemachines on the icon.
set the layer to Linear Burn
-Looks a bit to dark right?
Go back to your merged icon, duplicat it and drag it to the top. Set that layer to screen at 20% opacity.
Go to your eraser tool and erase the little bit at the side covering the black part.
and voila! add some text and you're finished.
DONT follow this tut exactly. it doesnt work for every image! you have to play around with settings and such
remember, the number of screen layers depends on how dark your base is!
i hope that was easy to understand!
i'd love to see what everyone comes up with!

here's some more examples of stuff made with this tut.
