Life gets harder in a hot, dry summer.  For awhile you still mow, you get out earlier, before the heat kills you.  Then there's no rain and nothing to mow.  Even the trees suffer.  First the ornamentals, the small slender trees, but also the giants, the sycamores, the black walnut, and especially the tulip poplar.  Every day, I watered potted ( Read more... )

Sounds like the exact opposite of wasting time!

We're getting plenty of rain up here - we must be the only place in the U.S. It's been hot, but wet and green, and there are bugs and birds galore. Two tiny baby deer cavorted across the field today with their mom watching from the edge.
