The Role of the Narrator is like what Dante does to move the story along, besides like, telling the setting and stuff like that.

Like if he talks to anyone or something.

well i understand how to spot it, but how do i tell what the significance is? and for instance i see him talking to a sinner, then what?

Well, what does he discuss with the sinner?

What is something that they talk about that may change Dante's journey through Hell?

Look up the sinner in the notes and that should help you get any background information that may help explain significance.

well okay
virgil basically says go talk to them while i do this

dante goes over..
the sinner goes, what the hell, piss off. basically.
and dante runs back to virgil. that's the end of it.
and theres geryon, the monster, but they dont' talk.
geryon is like the guy that towed virgil and dante across the river. he just helps them between gaps.
