Believe it or not, I've never been to DC.

This will be changing in a couple weeks. Chris and i are flying down and visiting roguecub and largemilk in DC! We're both very excited about this trip. My favorite part of the Smithsonian is the Hirshhorn Museum--lots of modern sculpture. The Holocaust Museum....oof. That's a tough one. Very well done, but when your trip starts by crossing a bridge over a pile of shoes and actually gets more horrifying from there, well, you probably get the idea.

But I hope I get to see you again!

Hey there! When are you guys there? I'll be there from April 19th through the 30th.

I personally thought that the National Museum of Crime and Punishment was a blast.

We're going to be in DC April 16 thru 19. So it sounds like we're just going to miss each other.

Sooo excited for your visit. roguecub April 5 2009, 05:06:44 UTC
The day you boys hit the holocaust museum we will make sure to have some light hearted movie to watch afterwards. It will drain you.

I love the Spy museum, and have been interested in seeing the New Newseum and Crime & Punishment Museum as well. They look really neat.

Seth is right in recommending the Hirshorn museum that's a very cool section to see.

I'd love to make sure you boys see the WWII monument and FDR memorial as well...both favorites of mine on the mall! :)

The monuments are all completely different at night as well. The Vietnam Memorial at night is one of the most powerful visuals in the city. I like FDR and Lincoln better at night as well. Find the Einstein memorial near Vietnam - it's a little oasis in the city and it's really cool.

The National Building Museum is a great building, and can have some cool exhibits depending on what's showing. The US Capitol Visitor's Center just opened as well and is cool. Let me know if you want a Capitol Tour - can get one set up for you i think.

Union Station is a great place for lunch and the Newseum just reopened on the mall as well. It's a great exhibit on media. If nothing else, walk the block in front of it - they display the front pages from all over the world.
