I understand your reaction so much. It grates terribly when people have to compare Paul to John. Paul always comes out as the inferior, and that's a load of crap. Mostly because John has been immortalized. In the same way as Dean or Monroe or hell, King. You just can't compare someone who was cut down in the prime of their life to someone who has had to suffer down here along with the rest of us. People make mistakes over teh course of a lifetime, and Paul has had to deal with 60+ years of mistakes, whereas John only had 40 years. John didn't have to deal with the (inevitable) creative decline that happens at certain points in everyone's life

Your answer has explained everything I've been thinking for the past ten years. I adore you like mad right about now. Thank you, thank you so much. It's true- all of it. We aren't allowed to talk about John having faults because he's no longer with us, which I think is pure bullshit, excuse the language. Yes, he did so many good things- but to only highlight the good things leaves him lacking in human characteristics...and I like my John to be REAL. That's why I love the Beatles so much, because although they were a HUGE surreal phenomenon, they were REAL people, with faults, and weakness, and struggle.
I loved Paul. He was a genius! and even though I don't like him anymore. I don't like his new music... and he is a sell out... I would NEVER say anything like that! That article is down right cruel... and wrong! For one thing, the whole matter is his buisness.... we shoudln't know the details anyways. When he let Linda join wings I thought that was beautiful. and how dare he be compared to John! They were all so different!
I'm not going to touch on the 'Paul being a sell out' topic. I just won't. But, I do agree- the article is cruel and pathetic.
And I love Linda. I love her so much, and I think it's so romantic that he let her join the band and they played together and created music together and had a family together- I love that idea so much. *feels the warm and fuzzies*
You know, it's the tabloid's job to try and ruin celebrities' lives. They're hounds, blood-sucking leeches, and papparazzi that bother people to no end outside of their houses when they're trying to have a relaxing weekend with their kids, significant others, families, etc. They're idiots that stick their noses in business that isn't theirs.
I'm not a huge Beatles fan because I haven't listened to them as frequently and I don't know hells bells about them, really, but I've gotten sick and tired of people on the local radio shows trying to act like they actually know Paul McCartney in person, talking about his personal life like that.
Paul McCartney is an icon - no one can ever change that.
