I watched the first 10 (out of 12) episodes of Dexter this weekend, and thought it was brilliant, I mean I absolutely think it is fantastic - but now I'm really not even sure if I can watch the last 2 episodes. Let me explain

I completely understand what you mean. I am the same way. :/
Oddly though Dexter didn't bother me. It was pretty gruesome, but I think that since the child didn't die I was okay-ish. Plus I had Jenna with me and that always helps. I think you should watch the rest--there are still more flashbacks...it's rough, but I think it's worth it. It all comes together, but honestly not with a "happy ending".
I had a total break down one time after watching an episode of Rescue Me. I was practically in histerics. And I know I absolutely never want to watch that ep again, so I really think it's your call whether to watch or not, but the last 2 episodes of Dexter are amazing.
Thanks for the support, I knew I had enough Mommies on my list to garnish some understanding.
I made up my mind last night to watch it, but then I went and layed with Brady because he has a cold and since I got so little sleep the night before, of course fell asleep with him. But I'm going to give it a try tonight. I think a little time did me good and even though I think it will be hard to see more of the flashbacks I'm more prepared now. I love the show and to get that understanding into what really damaged him in such a way - heck, even the fact that he managed to be guided to channel it into some kind of good is fascinating to me. Truly one of the most unique stories on television right now and aside from this one issue I really do think the show is brilliant.
