yeah sometimes if you have enough of it downloaded you can check it. it'll skip and fuck up but sure it'll play in VLC.

if it has multiple files in the download, generally you can play the ones that are finished. I don't think that is what you are asking about, but I thought I would throw it in there.

Since the parts of it don't download in order, you can't watch the start of it while the later bits download. Some of it might be playable in the right player, but it's random sections.

I believe Shareaza has the capability for that. I've only tried it on edonkey downloads though.
