What the heck fstop do you use to get that extreme bokeh? If I did that with my camera without a tripod, nothing would be in focus because I'd never be able to hold the camera that steady.
:) f 2,8, iso 200. The lens I took these with is HUGE, so thank god it has a voice reduction. I try to hold it as steady as I can while holding my breath.
... and thanks for the support (regarding my other post). I made it through the day!
I agree with singingnettle, you've got some bitchin' DoF goin' on here! Contrasts of blurred colours to in-focus sillhouette, sharp colours to blurred what-ever in background, whoa baby! These photos ROCK!
I think what Benedicte also has is a supernatural sense of exactly where to focus. In one of the silhouette with the pines near the top, it's actually only a tiny point of the branch that's in sharp focus, but the way the shapes flow and pull the eye makes all the focal levesl seem just right even though they are in varying levels of soft focus.
Having taken a second look--look at the first photo; it's the branch in the foreground to the right of the frame that's in hard focus and the rest is soft. Now, if I did that, chances are it'd just look...out of focus. :-) Because I think that sense of precisely where to focus in the frame is not commonplace and Benedicte's sense of it is exceptional.
That is definitely of interest to me. It is very close to where I live. I guess you could call it the "main square" of the town. Maybe I will go down there and wave sometime, heh.
