Beautiful game, my arse

Good grief, the British media don't half spout a load of nonsense, do they? All you so-called pundits, please take note of a few key points:
1) It was over the line. Not Malouda vs. Everton at Wembley or Lampard vs. Germany over, but over nonetheless. Try basing your argument on all the pictures and replays, not just the ones starting after ( Read more... )

The media have been ridiculous this week. Admittedly, they're always bad, but it's seemed worse this week. I'll admit the decisions could have gone either way, but as you say, the other teams benefit from decisions ALL THE TIME without this kind of hysteria. It's stupid.

And yes times a million on what you said about Barcelona. Barca are probably one of my most disliked clubs because of the hysteria surrounding them, when they're no better than anyone else. I've loved Jose during all of this, even if some of it was a bit OTT - at least he's not afraid to stick up for himself and his players. Wish more managers would do that.

I totally agree about Jose. He didn't say anything that wasn't true, and the only thing really OTT was the criticism he got for daring to point out the obvious. Meanwhile Guardiola sits at a press conference with a straight face and says 'my players are honest professionals' after millions of people watched Alves and co. auditioning for places either on the Olympic diving team or at RADA, while Valdes sprinted 40 yards to argue with the ref over every decision. Yes, clearly Jose is the bad guy here. *headdesk*

Barca is my most hated team because of their attitude. I know hypocrisy is pretty much the standard in football but they really take it to another level. They have some of the best players in the world and claim to always play 'the right way' yet those same players are the ones who consistently cheat even when they're winning. Tuesday night Barca were minutes away from securing their place in the Final, with Real needing to score two goals, and Mascherano still felt compelled to take laughable dives. Sickening ( ... )
