Thank you. It's good to know that others appreciate what I've really been doing at work this week. ;)

The thing that really gets me about the media is that they could achieve the same goals without resorting to writing complete fiction. If they want to have a go at Chelsea, fine. Let them criticize our lack of flair, poor service for Sheva, failure to slaughter 'weak' teams, etc. But no, my bad--'Enemy of Football' sounds so much more dramatic!

I'm proud of Jose for standing by his comments and his players. The FA can go frak themselves, and Mike Riley can crawl back to the cesspool that spawned him.

I hope Petr does get his telly in time, although if I were his doctors I'd be worried that the match will give him heart palpitations!

The media today has just made me angry all over again. Forget that someone's life was in danger, Jose exaggerated by 6 minutes...that's obviously the crime of the century and worthy of headlines.

Sorry, just annoys me.

You already know what I think of all this. I just wish there were a way for more people to see your post because it is the most comprehensive and fair (if not completely objective) assessment of the situation that anyone has yet produced.

All the same, remind me when we get home to get started on that voodoo doll...

Well, that's about as objective as I can be. At least I edited out most of the expletives.

More than I can say! *g* I mean that because you are a Chelsea fan and not a complete neutral who doesn't support any team, it's impossible to claim absolute objectivity. But I still say any neutral person with half a functioning brain cell should share your well-balanced view. Too bad there don't seem to be many of those floating around.

Well said! Nice of the media and of the rest of the punters out there to use this mess to hate on Chelsea once again.

I don't know what to comment on first! Fabulous post! I've been thinking about the whole situation ever since it happened, and I'm getting more and more wound up by it all ( ... )

Do the rules not say that a player has to be sent off for dangerous play? It doesn't matter if it was meant or not, it just needs to be dangerous. And i do agree with you that i don't think he meant to put Petr in hospital, but his actions were dangerous! In fact, even if it was a complete accident and he did try to stop, it would still have been dangerous play! But he didn't even get a yellow card did he? The whole thing is annoying me more and more.

Totally agree! It was reckless.

Here in the States a driver can get convicted for involuntary manslaughter if they accidentally run over someone while speeding/drinking/etc. Intent is totally irrelevant. It's called reckless endangerment or criminal negligence ( ... )

I know I'm not on your f-list, but seeing as xpectopatronum used your post in reference, I decided to take a look at it myself. And to be honest, you hit the nail on the head when it comes to laying out all of the arguments of the case (i.e. whether Hunt's challenge was intentional, Jose's view of the situation, Carlo's injury, and how the media handled it).

I thought Hunt's challenge on Petr was reckless and harsh from the get-go. I wouldn't have been suprised if he had gotten booked for it by Riley (who didn't help himself any better by making Petr crawl out of the pitch on all fours, never mind if it was protocol or not). You've got everything else that I wanted to say about Mourinho and the media, too.
