Ritsuka sighs at night and wonders why it didn’t blossom on the right side, over his heart. There is a meaning to the placement of these words, he knows, the way Soubi’s ‘BELOVED’ is cut into his throat like a collar, his heart crowned with thorns. He wonders why they look like long-healed scars, although the stigmata had suddenly appeared overnight.
The (normal) human heart is more on the left side of the body rather than the right, because the LV pumps the blood to the body. When you are facing someone it would be YOUR right, but it is that person's left (if that makes sense).
Anatomically though, the heart will always be on the left side of the body. It's like if you looked in a mirror and waved your right hand, it would be on the left, but it'd still be your right hand.
I am going to be mass apologizing for the heart slip-up. XDDDD Oh god, you can so tell I didn't pass biology last term. *much embarassment* *scrambles to get it changed* Thank you so much for pointing it out! *bows deeply*
Quite possibly the most breathtaking fic I've ever read. You tie all your metaphors together so beautifully. Your narrative is flawless, your characterizations are so canon, it's scary, and...I think I want to keep you forever and ever. O_O
Just elegant, subtle, amazing. Thank you so much for sharing this.
..That was beautiful. And it's funny how it says that things go beyond words, because that's kind of how your writing style is. And your transitions are perfect.
I wholeheartedly agree with snarky_katvery lovely fic; an incredible rendering of Soubi and Ritsuka's relationship, and also of the way they relate with the outside world. There are many endearing details that make this story so powerfully emotive but also so believable. Still, my favourite has to be the narrative voice of Rituska's thoughts-feelings, because it seems that they are one and the same.
Most remarkable phrases:
"This is care, then. It’s not what you do, but what you mean by what you do."
And:
"There are profound words in this world, Ritsuka knows. Words that speak of the valley of the shadow of death and in doing so help subdue fear, words that make the unbearable bearable and bring measures of comfort to those in despair.
But as he lies still at night and touches Soubi’s face, Ritsuka is of the opinion that some things transcend words, and emotions take flight like pure white doves, or maybe butterflies."
They are just so...They are.
Great job!
PS Although, yes, the heart is on the left side. ^_^;;
