The white lights were blinding Ville. He was so hot. It felt like he was in hell. The cool metal table beneath him offered him no comfort. He was breathing heavily. His knuckles had turned deadly white from clutching the side of the table.
"Just relax, Mr. Valo, this will all be over with soon enough," the doctor said.
Ville closed his eyes and soon it was all over with. It was dark and cold out as Ville walked home. He felt so empty. He regretted his decision somewhat, but he couldn’t keep that baby. He refused to have Dani’s child. Now Bam would never know.
Bam wrapped himself around Ville.
"You’ve been quiet all day, baby, what’s wrong?" Bam asked.
"Just thinking is all, love," Ville smiled, curling into his husband.
"About what?" Bam asked.
"Nothing in particular. Just our family," Ville smiled.
Bam kissed him.
"You are always thinking of us aren’t?" he asked.
"Yeah, you guys are my life."
Bam smiled.
"I married the sweetest man alive."
Ville felt so guilty on the inside. He knew that Bam would have understood. Dani had raped him. But he didn’t want to keep his child. It wasn’t Bam’s. He could never hurt Bam like that.
"Night, love," Bam said, switching off the lights.
"Night, sweetheart."
Bam snuggled into Ville and that guilty feeling hit him again. He should have at least told Bam. Bam would have been there for him and he wouldn’t have to deal with this alone. Ville tried to push these thoughts and feelings aside to get some sleep. It wasn’t easy.
Later that night, Ville crept into the bathroom. He looked at himself in the mirror. He looked the same on the outside, at least to the ordinary eye. To him he looked lost and broken. The sound of soft crying caught his ear. Quietly he walked into Claire’s room and turned on her lights.
"Sweetheart?" he asked, sitting down on her bed.
His two year old daughter’s chubby was face was a mess of tears. Ville lifted her up and cradled her against him.
"What is it, baby girl?" he asked, smoothing her dark curl.
"Scary man," she sobbed into his chest.
"Scary man?" he asked.
She nodded. Her tears were soaking through his shirt.
"Yesh, he has scary eyes and long hair and evil!" she wailed.
She was talking about Dani. Ville rocked her gently.
"Shh, baby, it’s ok. Scary man will never harm you again," he soothed.
"Pwomise?" she asked.
"I promise."
"Me sleep with daddies?" she asked, sniffling slightly.
"Yes baby."
Ville carried her to their room and snuggled her between Bam and him. He would kill Dani if he ever got the chance.
~~~The Next Day~~
Ape brushed Gerard’s hair.
"God, how do you get it so tangled?" she asked.
"I don’t know, grams, it just happens."
She chuckled and finished brushing his hair. Gerard ran off to play with Bert.
"Do you like your new little brother?" he asked.
Bert nodded.
"I love Frankie. He’s cute and he makes mama so happy," he replied.
Gerard wrinkled his nose. He didn’t like little brothers, but if they made Bert happy. Quinn and Mikey were swinging in the backyard. Ape was watching the whole damn brood today. She had Kiki and Johnny in little swings in her living room. Newborn Frankie was snuggled in his crib, along with Dico and Raab’s new newborn, Tim. Tarja was watching over the twins in the living room.
Ape loved having all these babies around. She missed her little Bam and Jess. But she had everyone’s babies around her now. Little Claire was sitting on the little floor, playing with her dolls. She had been a little scared to venture outside lately, no matter how much her brothers had coaxed her. She seemed perfectly content staying inside and playing with her dolls. Gerard came running inside.
"What is it dear?" Ape asked.
"I just wanted to tell you that Bert and I are gonna be rock stars like daddy when we get older," he exclaimed before running back outside.
Ape smiled and walked upstairs to get some laundry ready to watch. A few minutes later, Claire got bored of playing with her dolls and trotted up the steps to find Ape. Tarja almost dropped Sarah out of her arms when Claire’s blood curdling scream filled the entire house. She sat her sister down and ran up the steps into Ape’s room. She almost screamed herself when she discovered Ape’s body lying on the floor.
~~~At the hospital~~~
Bam climbed into the hospital bed next to his mom.
"Bam what are you doing?" she asked, hiding a soft smile.
"Mom, I can’t lose you," he whispered, curling into her.
"You haven’t called my mom in a long time."
"I love you, mom, and I can’t lose you…ever. The doctor said you are overworking yourself. I am so sorry, over the years I’ve been such an ass, making you worry and take care of me…and I am so sorry."
Bam was on the verge of tears. No matter how much of a hard time he gave her, he loved her so much. He could never lose her, never.
"Bam, it’s ok. I’ll take it easy ok?" she said, smoothing his hair.
He nodded and sniffled.
"Ok, mom, besides Phil would be a wreck without you."
"How is Claire?" she asked.
"She still a little shaken, but she’s alright. Poor Gee, you scared him to death."
"I want to see my little guy as soon as I get out of here, ok?"
"Anything you want, mommy, anything you want," he whispered, hugging her close.
Tarja was sitting in Dunn’s lap in the waiting room, while Jess and Phil were busy talking to the doctors.
"Is Grandma Ape going to be ok?" she asked, looking up at her dad.
"Yes, baby, she is. She’s so lucky you were there to call the ambulance," he said, stroking her soft brown hair.
Tarja smiled.
"Well you taught me what to do in an emergency," she said.
Dunn kissed her forehead.
"What did I ever do to deserve you?" he asked.
"I’m going to the bathroom ok?"
"Ok, baby girl. I’ll be here waiting."
Tarja hopped off his lap and walked to the bathroom. She went to push open the door, when a voice behind her said,
"Well hello there pretty one."
She turned and faced a tall man with wild blue eyes and long black hair. Something told her to run.
"I’m not allowed to talk to strangers, sorry," she said as politely as she could.
Dani sneered and grabbed the girl, quickly covering her mouth.
"Now, my pretty thing, don’t make a fuss, or I will badly hurt you," he said, stroking her cheek with a long black talon.
She whimpered and wanted to call for her daddies so bad, but she didn’t. She didn’t want to get hurt. Dani carried Tarja out of the hospital. He would teach Ville to mess with him. How dare he kill their child? Oh, he would learn. He would hurt the people Ville loved most.
