Bam placed some dirty dishes in the sink and turned on the water. Ville lifted Claire out of her highchair. Gee was sleeping over at Bert’s tonight and Mikey and Quinn had grown quite attached, so he was over at Amy and Billie Joe’s as well.
"Bam, I’m gonna give her a bottle and put her to bed, ok?" Ville said, fetching a bottle out of the fridge.
"Sure, sounds good," Bam replied, drying some dishes off.
Ville warmed the bottle up, but didn’t say another word to Bam. Ville had been so quiet and withdrawn after the ‘wedding’.
"Is something wrong?" Bam asked.
"Nope," Ville coolly replied, carrying Claire up to her nursery.
Bam sighed and finished cleaning up the dishes. He wasn’t sure what was up with Ville. He knew that something was bothering him. They used to always talk. Bam really wanted to know what was going on. He couldn’t remember doing anything wrong.
Ville sat down in the rocking chair and offered Claire the bottle. She took it happily and closes her green eyes. Ville smiled softly and cradled her tenderly. He really regretted spending so much time away from his children. Soon his thoughts drifted to the child Jenn and Bam had together. Why wouldn’t Bam tell him? How could he keep that secret from him?
Bam walked up the steps and watched Ville rocking and feeding their daughter. He rubbed his growing belly. He loved having babies with the love of his life. He just wanted to know what was bothering his love. Ville carried a now sleeping Claire over to her crib and placed her in. He turned back around and found himself facing Bam.
"I think we need to talk," Bam said.
Ville nodded and the two went into their bedroom. Before Bam could open his mouth, Ville had cut him off.
"Why didn’t you tell me that you and Jenn have a child?" Ville asked.
"I…WHAT?!" Bam yelled.
"You and Jenn have a kid, and you didn’t bother to tell me!" Ville yelled back.
"I had no idea that Jenn had a kid with me!"
"Bullshit! How can lie to me like this?"
"Ville, I am not lying to you. It’s possible she could have been pregnant when I left her for you, but she never once mentioned it to me," Bam said.
"She was there at the ‘wedding.’ She told me to tell you to go see your kid. Sounded to me like you knew," Ville said.
"Ville! I have no idea about this kid!"
Ville shook his head. He really didn’t believe him.
"I don’t believe you, Bam. Just…leave me alone for right now."
"Fine."
Bam grabbed his jacket and the keys to his Hummer. He stormed out the door and drove over to Jenn’s. How could Ville doubt him? Well fuck him. He banged on Jenn’s door. She opened the door and her eyes widened.
"Bam?"
"Yeah. Why the fuck didn’t you tell me that we had a kid?" he demanded.
She sighed. Wow, she really had aged.
"Just come in," she said.
He shoved his keys into his pocket and followed her inside.
"So why didn’t you tell me?" he asked again.
"I…don’t know," she sighed.
"What did we have? What’s its name?" Bam asked.
"We had a girl. Her name is Tarja," Jenn said.
"Tarja? That’s Finnish," Bam said, with a soft smile, thinking of Ville again.
"Well, I know how much you like Finnish things," Jenn sneered.
Wow, she had turned to even more of an icy bitch.
"Can I see her?" Bam asked.
"She’s in the backyard," Jenn said, pointing to the door.
Bam walked into the backyard, where a ten year old girl was building a little sandcastle in the sandbox. She appeared to be intoxicated with her project. Bam slowly approached her. She had long dark chestnut hair, which was pulled back into a pony tail. She heard footsteps and looked up. Fuck, she had his eyes. Bam gave her a warm smile.
"Hi," he said, sitting down next to her in the sandbox.
"Hi. Are you one of mom’s friends?" she asked.
"Yeah, you could say that," Bam said.
"Cool, I like your blazer. Red is one of my favorite colors," she said, referring to Bam’s blazer.
"Thanks, doll."
He gently touched the HIM symbol, which dangled from a black string around her neck. He was pretty sure that was his.
"My mom said it was my dad’s," she smiled.
Bam bite his lip. She was a sweet polite kid. Jenn walked back to them.
"Bam I think you should go now," she said, pulling him up.
"Yeah ok. It was nice meeting you, doll," he called behind him as Jenn drug him to his car.
"Listen, thanks for coming by," Jenn said.
"Jenn, is she really mine?" he asked.
She nodded.
"She’s all yours," Jenn smiled.
"I want a paternity test. I want to be certain."
"Fine!"
With that said, Bam drove back to his house that he shared with Ville. Ville was waiting up for him.
"Bam, I’m sorry…"
Bam pressed a finger to his lips.
"It’s ok, baby, just I understand that you were upset. I’m taking a paternity test to be sure."
Ville nodded and kissed him.
"Ow," Bam hissed and clutched his stomach.
"Fuck," Ville said.
"Hospital. Now."
Ville called Ape to come and watch over Claire as he drove Bam to the hospital. Ville clutched his hand as the doctor walked into the room.
"You and the baby are fine. You seem to have been under a lot of stress. You need to relax, because if not, you will lose this child," the doctor said.
Ville held Bam in his arms.
"I’m so sorry," Ville whispered, stroking the curly brown hair.
"It’s ok, the baby is fine."
"But I was such an asshole, because of me, you almost lost it."
"Shh, baby, just rest now."
Ville wiped a few stray tears away and cradle his love close.
~~~About a month later~~~
Mikey sat in Ville’s lap, watching some cartoon on TV, while Ville wrote some lyrics.
"Daddy, learn me how to play the bass," Mikey said.
"That’s teach you, baby, not learn me. And daddy will teach you when he has some free time, ok?"
"Kay, daddy," Mikey said, going back to watch TV.
The phone rang and Ville picked it up.
"Hello? Bam it’s for you!"
Ville waited for him to pick up, before clicking the phone off. Bam walked in a few moments later.
"What is it?" Ville asked.
"Tarja, she’s not mine," Bam said.
Ville tilted his head.
"You look upset," Ville pointed out.
"She was a sweet girl, I dunno, I wouldn’t have minded so much."
Bam sighed and sat down next to Ville, who squeezed his shoulders.
"Does Jenn know who the father is then?" Ville asked.
"Yeah, she’s Dunn’s."
