Chapter 2

The bell rang, signaling that the class was over. Bam quickly reached for his backpack, since he already had his things within it, before jumping to his feet. As fast as he could, he was already on his way out of the classroom, voiding any glance at the new substitute. He really could not explain why he felt the way he did, and it was rare for him to feel embarrassed like this. Adjusting the strap on his shoulder, he was squeezing his way through the crowded hallway. “Bam!” he heard his name being shouted from behind him, yet he still refused to stop. “Bam! Wait up!” the same voice shouted again, but he continued on his way; wanting to get as far for that classroom as he could. After a few seconds, someone pulling on his left arm made him come to a stop. “What the hell is your problem?” Nicole voice questioned, reaching his ears quickly.

“Who says there is something wrong?” Bam questioned in reply as he looked over at her.

At the look he was giving her, she quickly withdrew her hand from his arm. “You were quiet all class, then you shot out of there like a bat out of hell.” Nicole answered softly as she felt someone bump into her back, since the two of them were standing in the middle of the crowded hallway.

Bam saw her jerk forward a bit as someone bumped into her back. With a sigh, he grabbed her wrist before dragging her in the direction he was headed. “It’s just that I’m still upset about what happened before class started.” Bam explained, finally answering her original question from before.

“Oh that.” she replied as the two of them reached his locker. “Oh forget about it.” she insisted as she gave a little wave of her hand. “He’s probably had students do this to him before. My guess is that he already forgot about it.” she added trying to reassure the brunette, who was digging through his locker.

“I just-”

“Don’t let it get to you, hun.” she interrupted him before leaning forward and placing a soft kiss upon his left cheek. “I have to get going to my next class, meet me out front after school. I have to finish up a report for history, so I am going to miss out on lunch.” she added once she pulled away from his cheek.

Without a word, he only nodded his head in reply that he understood. Then within a second, she had already disappeared into the hallway. She was right, he thought as he finally closed his locker. He shouldn’t let this whole ordeal get to him. It wasn’t like him to let things like this get him down. Turning on his feet, he headed in the direction opposite that Nicole had headed. This time around, he was going to take his time getting to his next class. It was only Mathematics, so he really did not care if he was late. He wanted to clear his mind a little before he entered another classroom.

However, throughout the rest of the day, Bam could not get his mind clear from the situation that had happened that morning. It was starting to tick him off only because he did not know why he was so worked up about it. While sitting in his last class of the day, Bam continuously tried to think of reasons that could explain why he was being this way. At first, all he wanted to do was make a good impression on the guy. Although that thought had gone down the drain once Bam found out that Ville was their new teacher. ‘Isn’t he too young to be teaching anyway?’ Bam thought to himself as he continued to stare at the front cover of his notebook. Was he suppose to be doing anything within this class anyways?

As the minutes passed along with his thoughts, the sound of the final bell ringing interrupted all of his pondering. It took him a few seconds to realize that the bell had gone off. Then reaching down to his feet, he grabbed his bag before pulling it into his lap. Reaching forward, he grabbed all of his belongings that he had spread out on top of the wooden desk, he quickly began to shove it all into the bag. Once the desk was clear, he pulled on the zipper as he climbed to his feet. Then slipping into the small line of students at the door, he quietly made his way back to his locker.

After switching out everything in his bag to the things he needed, he was finally able to leave the school. He zigzagged his way through the hallways, and students, before he come to the front exit. Nicole had told him to meet her out front, so that’s exactly what he was doing. Stepping up to the glass door he used his free hand, that wasn’t holding onto his backpack strap, to push open the door. A late warm summer, early fall, breeze quickly hit him as he stood at the top of the stairs. While gripping onto his bag, he let his eyes scan the grounds for his friend. Finally looking pass all of the students, he saw her shorter figure sitting on top of a picnic table. Like he normal found her after school, she got out 30 minutes before him, her nose stuck in a book.

Shaking his head softly as a smile played on his lips, he quickly jogged down the stairs before heading in her direction. “Hey there.” he said once he reached her, while at the same time taking a seat next to her and placing his feet on the bench on the picnic table. He then removed his bag and set it next to him on the table top.

“Hey.” she mumbled softly, not removing her gaze from the book.

He gave off a little laugh at her behavior. Knowing her for so long, he had learned a lot of things about her. Like right now, while she was reading her book, he knew that if he stated his presence he would only have to wait till she finished the page she was on until he could get her full attention. Sure enough, after a couple seconds she placed her bookmark in between the pages she was on before closing it. “Hi.” she added in a cheerful mood as she looked over at him.

“You free tonight?” Bam asked, starting up a conversation between the two of them.

She was in the middle of putting her book away, so all she did was shake her head ‘no’ in reply. Quickly finishing her task, she looked over at him to explain her answer. “Unlike some people I know, I have to work tonight.” she explained with a laugh.

“Hey.” he protested with a slight pout. “I had a job.”

She shook her head gently as she listened to his excused. “Yeah, but you quit because you never had enough time for skateboarding.” she replied with a laugh.

Hearing her laugh only made him join her. He removed his gaze from her before looking straight ahead of him. “What can I say? I love the ‘sport’.” he replied with a laugh as he watched the campus ground become empty as everyone continued to leave for the day. It was then that he spot a slightly familiar figure. “Hey. I have to go. Call me when you get off if it’s not to late.” he said as he looked over at his blonde friend. She nodded her head in reply before he leaned over to her and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek, like she had done to him earlier. Without another word, he grabbed his bag before hopping off of the picnic table. Quickly throwing one of the straps onto his right shoulder, he set off in a jog towards the person he saw.

He caught a glimpse of the red shirt that was under the black coat, and he knew this was the right person he needed to talk too. With his jog he finally succeed in getting a few feet from the man, who was heading towards the parking lot. “Why did you lie to me?” Bam quickly asked, but loud enough to get Ville’s attention.

The brunette, who had removed his beanie, stopped at the words. “Excuse me?” he questioned in return as he turned on his heels to face him.

“Why did you lie to me about being the teacher?” Bam asked as his blue eyes found Ville’s emerald green ones.

“I never lied to you, Mr. Margera. If I recall correctly, you never asked me if I was a teacher.” Ville stated as he watched the student slight fidget in front of him. “You only asked if I was new here.” he added firmly as he continued on his way into the parking lot.

“You made me assume-”

“No, Brandon.” Ville started, interrupting the brunette; who flinched at the sound of his first name. “You assumed everything on your own.” he added once he stepped up to his car. “Now, if you’ll excuse me,” he started as he reached forward and pulled open the driver door. “I must be on my way.” he added while glancing over at the brunette.

Bam remained silent, for he did not know what to say in reply, as he watched Ville climb into his car. Before he knew it, he was watching his new teacher pull away. While watching the car leave the parking lot, he could not explain the sudden urge he had receive just now. The urge of needing to explain himself to his new teacher. Sighing softly, he turned around and headed back in the direction he had come from. All he wanted to do now was get home.
