Good-bye, Tiny!Phone.

You can never be replaced in our hearts.

Tiny!Phone, 2006-2009.

I have obtained a new phone! It is huge (thus, normal sized to everyone else) and has a touch-screen. It's like an iPhone wannabe with a keyboard attached, and thus is really great. I'm still learning how to use it, and unlike my last phone, actually want to use ( Read more... )

I was feeling the same way about art about two weeks ago. Just lackluster and terrible. I wanted to be artistic, I just... couldn't. Gordon's recommendation was to set aside two hours of every day to work on art, and even if I did nothing but chew on my pencil, I would be thinking. But that was too difficult for me, so I just started the sketchjournalthing, which is a itty bitty throwaway sketchbook. The size means I can't get too detailed, and I've chosen to work almost entirely in ink, which means I am learning to not care about or fix mistakes. It has been immensely helpful, even though the first like 5 pages are just observations and some doodles of faces. Try it ( ... )

I'll definitely try the tiny sketchbook method. A couple of years ago I trucked around this small spiral-bound sketchbook with me, and drew in it with pen only, which taught me the value of little details and subtlety. I really don't think that it helps that I keep comparing myself to other artists, either, but for some reason trolling around deviantArt is oddly helpful in making me gain inspiration. I'm really looking forward to you coming back, not only because I utterly adore you, or your greatness, but because you are immensely inspiring. I want to, by the end of the year, have a style that's more in line with Rackham/DiTerlizzi. More illustrative and simplistic, I guess, but not necessarily simple. A little like b1nd1's, I guess, but not quite, if that makes sense. For Christmas I think I'm going to ask for a tablet, so I can explore digital media more and generally dick around with it ( ... )

Astrojax are awesome, but not as awesome as that tattoo! Man, it's beautiful. Like, searingly good. There's just enough black to balance the detail. I agree, by the way, that tattoos should highlight the natural shape of the body if at all possible, and that does it wonderfully. I also love the shoulder/shoulderblade/clavicle area for tattoos. I have had so many ideas for tattoos there... man. Awesome. And you are awesome for wanting it.

It's true that the one avenue I didn't explore when trying for white hair was the professional one. I just didn't really have anyone to ask, and I didn't want to just walk in an be all "Hello I don't want an appointment, but...". But you have someone you know and trust, so by all means ask about it (and let me know what they say)!

Yeah, white hair? Really horrible for you no matter where you go. I think I'll just go with a color, really, since it might be safer.

I was really excited to see that tattoo because it perfectly encapsulated what I'd eventually like on me.
