Oh Baby Focus :(

Feb 13, 2008 12:51

I woke up at like, 12:30 [getting my full 10 hours of rest!] - and ran outside to pull baby focus into dad's garage spot to allow for a de-snow period before I had to go to class. Well, I get out there, and we have a nice thick layer covering the whole car. Whoope. So. I pull at the handle as much as possible, but I'm afraid to pull TOO hard ( Read more... )

If you are able to get into the car, just turn it on, let it warm up, and blast the heat for a good 15 minutes. That'll warm up the outer layer of the car just enough for the ice on the bottom to melt, and then you can slide the whole lot off.

As crazy as it sounds (and if it's not raining), what about a long extension cord and a hairdrier to the handles to warm them up and melt the ice?

Course, this is coming from a displaced Texan who was mad as hell I couldn't get in through my driver side door in a recent ice storm after a class one night. Nothing like scraping your windows just to have them freeze over again in a matter of moments.

Stupid weather.

Yeah, thought about it. And I think I tried it last year - with no luck.

Good news though, the weather warmed up just enough that I managed to get thru the passenger door, turn it on, let it run for 20 minutes, and then pull it in the garage to de-snow itself for another 20.

Then we were good to go. I will admit, it was fun to peel the ice off :)
