Best albums of 2009 (so far)

Metric - Fantasies: Really great upbeat indie pop, very shimmery new-wave. And I absolutely adore Emily Haines' "little girl" voice, it really reminds me of Cerys Matthews from Catatonia.

Did you ever listen to the epoxies? The whole 80s upbeat synth-pop reminded me of them.

Yeah, still have your CD. Might have to break it out. But you should definitely check out Ladyhawke and Metric (just don't watch the Ladyhawke video for "Back of the Van" first... it is like intentionally ca. 1983 MTV horribad (which is kind of endearing, in ways, but first time I saw it, it turned me off to Ladyhawke, till I noticed how damn good the song itself was).

The fact that the lead singer of Metric looks like a younger, dressed down version of Kiera Knightly doesn't hurt either :P
