Jack never was the man to follow tradition. Even if the code specifically called that no women or fighting was to be on board, he broke that rule when he allowed Elizabeth to board the Black Pearl several years ago. A pirate lord was he and still is, though her being the King was the better choice ( Read more... )

Elizabeth slept by herself the first night in the Captain's bed. She had no idea where he set up his hammock, but was thankful for a bit of privacy. She endeavored to let him sleep in the room with her, just not in the bed of course. He could still set up his hammock within the confines of his quarters and as long as he didn't snore, she'd tolerate him ( ... )

Jack was up earlier than usual only since Gibbs had kicked him on his backside more than once for his snoring and the men picked up his hammock by later securing it between the two masts. If it weren't for the sea spray catching him, he would have still been asleep.

His gaze fell upon Elizabeth and her slightly green tint that he didn't catch nor understood what was going on, he grinned. "Ah! Mornin', love. Sleep well?" He wasn't about to tell him where he landed himself on his own waking. Embarrassment was never far from Jack's path. Captain or not, social graces were never his main agenda.

Munching on a pickle, the smell of vinegar lingered along with the morning rum that Jack always had on him. Oh yes, the smell was enough to send anyone to the stern. "Breakfast?" He offers one to Elizabeth with a grin.

"I slept better then I can remember sleeping for a long time, thanks again for the use of your quarters." Elizabeth was draped in an over sized sailor's shirt and pants, a loose outfit that allowed her more range of movement then ladies dresses ever could and considering how large her stomach was becoming, her movement was constricted enough without adding a thick layer of skirts which weren't really applicable out on the deep blue sea anyway. Just when she was about to smile back at him, she detected that lingering scent of rum and a stronger smell of - "Jack!"

The smell of vinegar was making her stomach heave in rebellion. She claps a hand over her nose and groans, swatting at him with her hand. "Take that somewhere else and eat it or toss it, the smell is making me sick." Pregnant women have quite a delicate sense of smell, but of course Jack is probably just plain clueless. "Morning sickness, Jack." She explains when he looks so baffled it almost makes her want to laugh.

"Oh." His nose wrinkled and sniffed the pickle. Of course he wouldn't find anything wrong with it. To him, this was normal and of course Jack was completely clueless when it came to bouts of morning sickness. He wasn't oblivious to the changing moods of women and in all honesty, Elizabeth was the first woman carrying a child that he's ever been around for longer than a few moments in passing. No way was he going to talk to his father about the birds and bees either. Captain Teague always scared him even thought the two are blood relatives ( ... )
