I sorta disagree. I mean, she's had feelings for him for six books, and he her for two. Yes, it was a surprising, out of the blue moment, but that's what made it so perfect, because it was natural for the two of them to finally come together in a moment of high levels of excitement!

I always thought the romances were the one thing in Harry Potter that never quite worked. Rowling wasn't able to pull them off well.

That's because they weren't really the focus of the books, which is fine. The average age of the characters throughout the books is 14, and friendship is more important than romantic love.

However, seeing characters get together, like Harry and Ginny, is still VERY satisfying for those of us expecting it.

I think it was because Rowling couldn't write them well. She had never written anything before Harry Potter. The last scene in Half-Blood Prince with Harry and Ginny pulling a Peter and Mary Jane made my eyes roll.
