The Quagmire quote really WAS an epic smackdown, wasn't it? I'm a liberal and was cheering Glen on every step of the way. Best scene yet this season (and yes, I am aware B****-Stewie and B****-Brian exist.)

He was actually approaching Oliver Queen levels, but the thing is, everything Quagmire said about Brian was absolutely true. I still hate Brian, but taken as a whole, I think it's interesting that he actually is a pretty consistent character when you think about it. I agree, best scene yet.

Oliver Queen may be a jerk about his politics but he at least walks the liberal walk and helps the common man. Brian however is a liberal hypocrite who is unable or unwilling to do ANYTHING to stop the problems he's supposedly against. His getting signatures for gay marriage may have SEEMED like a selfless act but he only did it because Jasper was his cousin. And he only pushed to have pot legalized so he could get out of the legal troubles. Any time Brian takes a stand and actually tries to change things it's always for selfish reasons.

The fact that this smackdown was delivered by the most morally compromised person on the show is an irony that is not lost on me. But when you actually hear a rapist like Quagmire actually make SERIOUSLY good points about what a jerk you are I think it's time to take stock of your life.

I'm going to do a LJ entry about the smackdown soon. It's actually been on my mind a lot lately and I think it's something every liberal can relate to. But that doesn't make Brian any less of a jerk.
