How many of the new titles do you plan on reading?

Yeah, I read about 2 a day, so I'm tied with you...although I'd hate to be that far behind, I'm allergic to spoilers and can't keep my nose off the internet!

Wait, when you mean "cure" Barbara do you mean make her not in a wheelchair anymore? What's wrong with that?

Batman isn't Bruce Wayne anymore? Lame. This is why I don't read superhero comics.

The good thing is they didn't even pretend Batman was dead. Superman came back in Final Crisis with his burned up skeleton in costume, but they let the readers know he's in a cave in time somewhere. I'm burned out on events, though, I hope the Batverse does more self contained stuff.

Barbara regaining use of her legs would sort of be character derailment. She learned to fight from Richard Dragon during her recovery and gained more confidence and willpower and built herself into Oracle, who is much more valuable than any dime a dozen Bat sidekicks, which she'd ultimately be if she was put back in a costume. She's unique, an inspiration to any handicap fans, and Barbara herself said she prefers not to go the Cyborg route (as that option has been presented to her).

I just find the entire idea of The Killing Joke VERY distasteful and I've been wanting to see it retconned for forever. But her going the Cyborg route wouldn't make me any happier.

Got a point about it being very important for handicapped fans but honestly I think what happened to Barbara was so horrible that it wasn't worth it. It's a very comic book mentality for her not just to be crippled on the job (as would be expected from a job this dangerous) but to be violated and used by the Joker too. I am SO glad the DCAU never went that route and I'm disapponted The Batman hinted that it would.

The Killing Joke wasn't even supposed to be canon, just a possible origin of the Joker. They didn't give much thought to crippling Babs. She had been retired from Batgirl for a few years and was in limbo, pretty much. When they introduced her as Oracle in Suicide Squad it was with new purpose. It stinks that things like that happen in general to women in comics, but at least in this case, it was treated seriously afterwrds. I don't like how it happened, but when all's said and done, I think it would be a disservice to just wipe it away.

Picking up Sirens instead of Detective Comics is easily the worst mistake ever, my good man. Kate hasn't had any chances to grab you because she hasn't been the star of anything before this, and the art. OMG.

That art did look beautiful, but I used three criteria - writer, artist, and characters. Sirens won 2 out of 3. Plus, Detective has a second feature, right? So it's a dollar more.

A second feature drawn by Cully Hamner.

Dini's actually been shockingly disappointing recently. Streets of Gotham had it's moments (Hush/Damian scene, Harley Quinn) but overall it was disappoiting. The Sirens preview looked pretty boring.

Dude, I seriously cannot rec 'Tec enough. Rucka > Dini (This time!), Williams >>>>> March, Renee/Kate > Ivy (although Sirens - Ivy = Renee and > Kate).

The only time Dini's really disappointed me was Countdown, and that I blame on lack of focus and coordination.

I dunno, I can't go back on my decisions now, I'll be unemployed in two months, the fun of dropping titles is just beginning.

DC killed Batman? Geez. I echo Matt's sentiment. Who is this Damien that's become Robin? I've only stopped reading since 2000 and I feel like I'm behind 20 years. That Blackest Night arc with Green Lantern, though, is the exception but even that I catch up on.

They didn't kill him kill him, he's just time displaced in a cave somewhere in pre-history. No explanation on whose skeleton Superman had, though.

Damien is a callback to "Son of the Demon" way back when Batman and Talia got married in the 70's. It didn't last, but Talia ended up pregnant and Bruce never found out, and the cliffhanger was never picked up...until a couple years ago. Damien is Bruce's ten year old son. He hung around Bruce and the others for a while, and now Dick's taken on responsibility for him in Bruce's absence.

Hmm. So he could change history with the slightest move couldn't he?

Son? Whoa. Totally forgot that story. So 30 years is like 10 years in comic book time, lol.

It does sound interesting that Dick is finally Batman. So Tim Drake is doing his own thing, trying to find Bruce Wayne as Red Robin? I would have guessed it but these new roles sound so logical and natural.

I think Bruce is probably going to leave cave painting clues so someone in the present will decipher them, go back, and save him.

Dick as Batman is pretty cool, but Tim as Red Robin is too dark. He wants to use the name "tainted" by Jason for some crappy reason of distancing himself from the new Batman and Robin.
