in our coats of splendid colours
we went from town to town
leaving young hearts filled with promise
and the venues turned up side down

now we're standing here together
and it's time for the encore

so let's not keep them waiting anymore

nice photos, as usual!

and laurel wreath!!! awesome. i'm glad the gigs were so great.

question - should i listen to their newest album? i was told it wasn't so great but i'm still curious. heck, i'm curious, so maybe i just will. :D

i know, right - when i heard the first notes of laurel wreath i went ASFGSJGJFKGADSSAF (on both nights, pretty much) and it included such amazing semi-psychedelic jamming, too!

all in all on both nights (the set changed a bit) they played at least hey modern days, echo chamber, joy surrender, it takes a fool to remain sane, bottleneck barbiturate, let your body decide, angelheads & laurel wreath from the first album ... and i'm 98% sure about this sad bouquet, too; i was quite happy about that. :D

and yeah, you should give it a listen, i think! it's not like you have anything to lose as long as you make sure to have a solid "this might be a big disappointment and it won't matter because i will always have the older albums" attitude because there's nothing worse than having high expectations for an album/song/gig and getting disappointed. :(

in all seriousness, it's my least favourite album of theirs BUT i have it on my ipod and when some of the tracks come up on shuffle i actually quite like them!

wowee, awesome awesome setlists! i guess that's one thing that can be said for goodbye concerts... they don't exactly just have to play mostly their new hits or whatever.

downloading the album right now. and yeah, since i had heard that it's not great my expectations aren't high, and therefore i won't be disappointed! good to hear you like some tracks too!

agdfkhj speaking of being disappointed - new pwolf album! (you know me, i have to bring this up) i really hope it leaks before i depart for africa for the entire summer but i am really quite nervous because he is someone i do have high expectations for and kjgdhsj we'll see. i know for sure this album will be super sappy which is something i normally hate, but given my life recently i probably need a little sappiness and will appreciate it a little more, hah.

out of curiosity, have you listened to the kills leak? also out of curiosity, how's life?

downloading the album right now.

did you listen to it? :D

when do you leave for africa? i heard pwolf's album's released date was pushed back or something... :| personally i don't care; i've heard two new tracks i think (the one with the lyric video with a clock and the one with a video of people on a beach or something) and my reaction was pretty much "OKAY, WHATEVS PATRICK".

haven't listened to the new kills album yet even though it's released now and all! idk, i didn't care for that one song (i can't remember song titles today it seems) and then listened to some ten second preview clips and my reaction was pretty much "OKAY, WHATEVS ALISON AND JAMIE"... i've been checking spotify though but it's not there yet, i'll give it a listen once it is. to be honest in my head i'd imagined their style would steer more towards post-punk with slight electro and krautrock influences or something (:D) so the "garage/rock" vibe i got from the previews disappointed me.

Great pictures, thanks! Ola is looking good, though he's finally starting to show his age. :)

Thanks!

They actually joked about being old (family) men now, which was given as one of the reasons they're breaking up.

Gorgeous photos! I've never listened to The Ark, but I can tell they mean a lot to you and I'm sorry they're breaking up.

Thank you! :)

I'm bummed about them breaking up but on the other hand it was getting obvious they didn't quite enjoy it so much anymore so I'm sure it's for the better.
Their music is kind of fun campy glamrock with the occasional anthem and actually beautiful power ballad...

ALSO, I just realised I was going to talk about Manics with you, like, weeks ago! :| Ick. I actually had the post open as a tab for a long time but then my browser crashed at some point and I promptly forgot about it all. I just re-opened the entry - let's see if I manage to come up with anything tonight. :)

Ooh, I like this!

I forgot to ask: have you ever been to a Manics show? I would still love to discuss them with you, if you ever wish to do so. :)

Never heard of this band, but my god, how fabulous does the singer look?

Ola Salo should be the definition of 'fabulous' on all the dictionaries in the world.

This video has a bad aspect ratio but his fabulousness shines gloriously through it.
