I don't see how an flist cut would be upsettingly notable. As far as I know, you can still read posts from someone who no longer considers you a friend.

This is true. But I don't think LJ flist status means anything as in whether you're actually a friend or not. LJ friend status is different from RL friendship status.

Well, of course it is different, but it still means something (otherwise what would be the point of it existing?).
And sometimes (current point in case, ne), you don't know the person IRL, so lj is the only contact you have...

holidays were alright, but it turns out simple repairs on an $800 car can cost more than $800... it hurt, luckily i was also working more hours
