what did i spend today doing?
Well, I started my first full day of the new year at a lovely reasonable hour. Basically spent the day reading Lords and Ladies - it was just as scary as I remembered ^_^ - and cleaning up after my shindig. The party itself was fine. I enjoyed myself, but in a vague way. Didn't really have as much fun as i had hoped, ( Read more... )

I HATE when my sibling uses my laptop. It's MINE!! Maybe I'm somewhat possessive. But Azumanga Daioh is fun, I heart it.

Though I've been dreaming lately, I haven't dreamed over the New Year. But :D to get at least 1 dream: I dreamt father was playing my oboe. I demonstrated it with the Mozart Oboe Concerto (which amuses the heck out of me since it's K pi [K 314 d287]), and he barely could honk a note out of it.

I think for the moment, I'll be fine, since my insurance supposedly will cover it. I'll let you know if they refuse, though ^_^

I have a spare ipod mini you're welcome to borrow if you want.

As for new years dream, I don't remember much -_- considering I went to sleep at 6am. What I do remember was that I flew to a red bull air race (using some kind of cologne that lets me fly) and there was this girl there. And there were a lot of shininess.

I'll be okay for the moment - hopefully the insurance ppls won't take too long. What's really worrying me is my computer/externalHD.

I mainly just try for stuff like freerange eggs and avoid veal
There is a fairly major movement in America for ethical meat (ie the animals are well treated, killed humanely,.. stuff like that, but its insanely hard to find here and to be honest people aren't passionate enough about it for me to think it will take off any time soon)

I thought I was in your dream!??? even if I didn't do anything?

I thought your techie friend was visiting after new yrs? how difficult to replace the motherboard?

Some of your resolutions made me grin :o and what ideas did you have in mind for getting fit?

no, I was expecting a bunch of geeks to turn up to new year's. goldfoil's friend Craig told me I needed a new motherboard (unless the graphic thingy isn't attached, which would be unusual for a laptop). Basically, I have to get hold of another Toshiba Satellite M30 laptop and steal it's motherboard - not easy...
And I have no idea what to do about Herbert - I don't want to wait till uni starts for Jason to have a look, but so far he's the only person I can think of.

You were in one of my dreams. The one after I met Darren. We tried to meet for dinner somewhere but it all went wrong.

What made you grin...? I can't recall having any amusing goals...

On the matter of data rescue from external or internal hard disks - I work for the Subiaco POST in Shenton Park, and have non-trivial facilities for data recovery available there. I'd be more than happy to do what I can for you, since I know just how much it sucks not having access to your files, and for me it's not all that big a deal to tackle the problem if I can do it while doing other things at work. Let me know if you want me to try to give you a hand so I can be sure to actually be at work at some time you can swing by with laptop, external hard disk, power adapters, etc.

Consider it thanks for a highly enjoyable evening if you like. Speaking of that very nice evening, though, I don't suppose a pair of unclaimed black glasses (with some paint missing on the bridge) did turn up? Thankfully I get by OK without and need a new pair anyway, but I wouldn't be at all sad to see them again...

Man, everyone seems to have lost stuff, but I haven't seen any of it so far... I'll keep an eye out.

As far as the HD goes... it's just some power problem, I know the rest of it works fine, because it *was* working. Gar. As far as the laptop goes.... well, the same model's for sale on ebay, currently at $130 with three days to go... Guess I'll give that a shot... (ha ha, if I ever learn how to use ebay).

I wouldn't mind a hand...
What can I do instead of bake you cookies? ^_^

For the HD: Is it a 2.5" or 3.5" disk? (Basically: does it require external power, or does it run off USB bus power ( ... )

wow... that's a lot of info - thanks!
Well, I might at least check out the place on Fitzgerald street and get a quote or something.
As far as the HD goes, it relies on external power. I know it's not the actual cord/adapter that's gone, because my sister has the exact same model (which I assume has to be convenient *somehow*) and I tried her cables the other night with no success.
