[ You may just be casually walking along the street, possibly minding your own business, when a teenage girl clutching a cane falls in front of you. There's no flashy entrance, no loud sounds or bright lights, she simply materializes in thin air and falls. She lets out a short scream as she hits the ground and, a few moments later, picks herself up

[The fact that someone just fell out of the sky is rather alarming to Patchouli, who had, until then, merely been situated on a park bench, minding her own business, reading.]

What in the--! [She bolts upright, now standing on the bench.] Are you okay? Have I gone mad? What... how...

[She sighs.] ... exactly what is going on here?

Huh? [ whirling around towards the voice, holding the cane in front of her in a weak defensive stance ]

Don't worry. I won't hurt you. [After all, you're not REALLY intruding on something of hers.]

My name is Patchouli. I'm a... well, if I explained, it wouldn't mean much, I don't think. Who are you? And why did you fall out of the sky?

[ very wary, still not lowering her cane ] I'm... My name's Nanako.
