Me and the boy are spending a couple days at his parents' house in Muurame because they headed for Tampere today, and it's quite awesome to have the house for ourselves. Sunshine and countryside on the doorstep, and the two of us. Or more like him & his piano, and me. Oh well ( Read more... )

It's none of my business, obviously, but distance need not be the terrible burden you think it is. On my lj friends list is one long-term couple who, for the first two years of their relationship, travelled between two cities to see each other and both had PhDs to complete. Additionally, I basically had to leave the country to carry on seeing Amanda, because her work visa expired and she had to leave Britain.

It's up to you what you do and how you feel you can handle it, but... it's not insurmountable.

I know, I used to live in one. Thing is just that I have been 3 years on a sick leave due to my depression, and I'm struggling to get back to school...so if the weeks are that (plus exhausting social activity), I need my rest in the weekends. Besides, I don't know what the long term point is, when I'm moving to Berlin after finishing this school, and he says he wants to stay in Finland. That's why I'm sad that all this time before that happens, I'd like to have him near and enjoy that. I just don't think it's worth the effort.

Besides. It'd be another thing if he lived in another country. Then I'd gladly get over there!
